[Subdue] Assassin's Heart by Sarah Ahiers ★★★★

I must admit to not paying too much attention to the book's description before I began reading. I seem to do that quite often... And my heart dropped in the first 2 chapters because it's obviously a Romeo & Juliet / forbidden love trope; not at all on my favourite list! However, that was just in the beginning as the twist of betrayal soon put paid to that and the rest of the novel was very enjoyable. I love the pacing. The characters, not so much, though they are tolerable so I just stop trying to reason out why they do this or say that. It was a pure fun sort of read for me. If I have to describe it to anyone, I'd probably say that it's a very tame version of Nevernight
