I love John Sandford books, and have read this one before; I'm not actually sure this is his first book - he published this and Rules of Prey both in the same year (1989). But it is at least close enough, and I really like this series! Good adventure books. The dated aspects of the computer crime are fun too: using floppy discs, finding Lotus Notes, needing to dial in on computers! It is a slightly rocky start to a series about very interesting people.
