I've actually read this book more than a year ago and it was awesome! I hope everyone else enjoys this book as much as I did. :)
I read this book quite awhile ago when it first came out. I really want to get a chance to read the next two books. It was really weird though! Had no clue what was really happening. LOL The ending was quite a twist. Really curious what is happening to Mara and if by the end it even becomes clear.
I thought it was a pretty good book. I really loved how the romance never detracted from the plot, which moved steadily along. Although it's not the type of book I would normally go for, I was thoroughly entertained! Glad you all enjoyed it too :)
I read this July of 2012 and this is what I thought:WTF did I just read? This book was just...not good. I was gonna say something rude but I don't wanna be dubbed a bully lol. This was a complete waste of my time. I thought I was reading a paranormal teen romance but all I got was an over the top, barely paranormal piece of crap. It didn't get supernatural until the VERY END. No lie, the whole book basically read as a romance and coming of age story until (view spoiler). But that's it for something being out of the ordinary.
And then you wanna throw a cliffhanger at the end and try to entice me to read the second one? Bullshit on that. I am not and will never read the next book in this series or the one after that. This book left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think it'll ever go away.
This is my first time reading this book. So far it reads like a contemporary romance mostly. I know there is some kind of big twist or reveal or something coming so I keep coming up with different theories. I really want this to live up to the hype for me!
I thought the book was great. I couldn't bring myself to put down the book for even a minute. It's confusing at first but for some strange reason the more confusing it gets, the more I want to finish the series. I'm a weirdo o.o
LOL! I don't think you're a weirdo, because I'm the same way ;) Or maybe we're both weird like that, hmmmm....
I think it was good but not a can't-stop-thinking-about-it, need-the-next-book-now kind of good. I was expecting more when I read this one.
I have never been so quickly sucked into a book in my life. I stood in the aisle at Barnes and Noble and read the first 60 pages before my daughter finally said she was ready to go. She was mad because I bought it for her and read it first. I agree the romance aspect of the book was whatever for me but I don't necessarily need that in a YA book. I go for creepy paranormal, snappy dialogue and fascinating characters. This had all of those things.
I loved this book, especially that you don't know what's going on. I find a lot of books predictable but I definitely couldn't predict this one! And I'm a sucker for an unreliable narrator. :) Plus Noah Freaking Shaw. <3
Okay I will absolutely jump on the Noah Freaking Shaw bandwagon but it did take me awhile to get into this book...like 160 pages awhile. I almost gave up but then I got hooked and the last half of the book I read in 3 hours. I'm a sucker for an English guy who can't get enough of the surly American girl. The relationship between Mara and Noah kind of reminded me of Edward and Bella. I'm not necessarily dying to read the next ones in the series but this was a pretty good read.
This book was amazing. A friend recommended it to me and now we are fangirling over Noah. Michelle Hodkins is a really great writer. I just finished
(the second book) and while I was reading it, I was thinking how Michelle Hodkins came up with such a brilliant idea. Her characters are excellent and she really developed the book.
I loved this book! I finished the series in 3 weeks. It's a great story and I fell in love with the characters, especially Noah and Mara.

Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.
