SOLVED. Fantasy: Young boy meets an old man who was imprisoned and has memory loss, the old man actually was a knight, they meet a witch in the woods, and in the end, they both end up sneaking into a castle at dawn to fulfill a prophecy. [s].

So, I remember reading this book around 5 years ago, I think the book might have been published around the early 2000s - 2010s, but the plot is still somewhat in my head, and I'd really like to find it again to reread it.

The book is a short fantasy novel around 100 - 150 pages I'd guess, not sure.

It was quite thin.

Well, the plot was about a young boy who had to work for his "evil" father, stepfather, captor or something like that. His captor was a ruffian of some sort, and some other ruffians ended up coming to the boy's stepfather's house. Some bad stuff happened, and the boy ended up finding an old man who was also imprisoned near his house, and the boy ended up setting the old man free (I think.) and the old man apparently had some kind of memory loss or trauma, which he forgot everything, including his name, and the only thing the old man remembered was a prophecy or something.



The boy and the old man ended up having to go on a quest-

The next part I remember is something about them finding a witch that lived in the woods, and she ended up healing the old man somehow, and the old man actually turned out to be a knight before his incident. They set off-



The next part I remember is something about fighting castle guards guarding the outskirts of the castle wall because of something about the prophecy.



The boy and the knight fight the guards, win, sneak into the castle (i forgot how they did that) and they climb something (a hill or a wall I think) right when the sun dawns, therefore; completing the prophecy, something about a jester and something else arriving at dawn. (the prophecy was a riddle of sorts, I think)



That's basically what I remember about the book. I hope you guys can find it out!
