Drace (dracenines) | 7540 comments There are some issues with the upcoming novel The Dead Take the A Train by Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey.

First, the author order needs to be changed. I believe it is Goodreads policy to list multiple authors in the order that they are listed on the cover (found here: https://tornightfire.com/catalog/the-...), so every edition of the book needs to be changed so that it lists Cassandra Khaw’s name before Richard Kadrey.

Second, this particular edition of the book (The Dead Take the A Train, ISBN 9781250789297) seems to have some weirdness going on with it. I can’t find its ISBN number or ASIN listed anywhere online in connection to an edition, and the release date is incorrect.

Third, this edition of the book (The Dead Take the A Train, ISBN 9781250789280) also has some weird issues going on around it. The ISBN shows up on multiple bookstore websites, but it is always listed as "out of stock" or "out of print". Is it possible that the ISBN number was changed at some point in the publishing process? ISBN 9781250867025 is the only number currently listed on the publisher’s website for the hardcover edition, (https://us.macmillan.com/books/978125...), so I have no idea what the 9781250789280 edition is.

Finally, the ebook edition (The Dead Take the A Train, ISBN 9781250867032) and the ISBN 9781250867025 edition are not listed as part of the Carrion City series like they should be. Series link here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/3253... This has been corrected.

As one final note, I also started a thread requesting that someone add cover art for this book. If anyone wants to take care of that as well, you can find it here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Thanks for any and all help with these issues.

Mesembryanthemum | 195 comments Done, I hope. Specifically, I fixed the second issue and researched the third -- the rest were already done.

First... (author order)
Done (by a different librarian).

Second... (non-existant ISBN and ASIN)
I agree; this edition does not seem to exist. Amazon doesn't have either ISBN 9781250789297 or ASIN B09CNGFSNL (nor does the publisher, WorldCat, or any other places I checked). I marked this edition as Invalid, with a note to other librarians in case it becomes valid later in the year.

Third... (weirdness with unavailable book for ISBN 9781250789280):
My guess is that the ISBN is okay. According to the publisher, Tor Nightfire, this book won't be published until October 2023. Perhaps that's why some bookseller sites show it as out of stock or unavailable. TorNightfire dot com doesn't show an ISBN in their catalog, but given that other sites use it (I found it on Overdrive, among others), my guess is that this ISBN will be used for this edition when it becomes available.

If it turns out to be wrong, you can post a request in the Superlibrarian folder to get the ISBN fixed.

Finally...
You already marked this as done (which you know; I'm including it here for completeness).

As one final note...
Marked as done in the other thread.

Thanks so much for all the help with this. It's hugely appreciated.

"TorNightfire dot com doesn't show an ISBN in their catalog..."

Just as a tip if you're ever taking care of issues with other Tor Nightfire books in the future: Tor is a subsidiary of Macmillan, so you can find all of their ISBNs and page counts and whatnot on the Macmillan website. Here's this one: https://us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

Again, thanks so, so much for all the help. Marking the thread as complete shortly.

Mesembryanthemum | 195 comments You're very welcome. And thanks for this tip. I have saved the link to the Macmillan website for future use.
