I am a librarian and a customer came in looking for this book, she read it about 10 years ago, don't know exactly the year. She remembers that the cover had buildings on the front and a girl in red boots, maybe a school bus or cars too. She remembers the main character having to move to a different state and living in a hotel possibly because of something to do with her father and being embarrassed about her living situation.

I believe the main character was a child and lived with her mother, but not totally sure!
