Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata

How it fits: Alternate - published in a Language other than English, this book was translated from the Japenese by Ginny Tapley Takemori
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
This book came so highly recommended and had been so hyped up that when a challenge required a book translated from it's original version I immediately thought of this book. At most I can give it 2.5 stars but had to round it down for Goodreads to 2 stars. I honestly didn't see the point of this book at all. Maybe it went over my head and the meaning was lost in translation, but I didn't think it was a real story, it wasn't funny like I had been told to expect. I was unable to relate to any of the characters. Yes the female narrator and man she housed eventually were quirky and didn't conform to societal expectations but they were also extremely shallow in my opinion. I managed to finish it because it was a short book compared to some I read and I am fascinated with Japan. If this was the first book I had read set in Japan I think I might have lost my interest and fascination in the country and culture. However, all others I have read set in Japan have lived up to expectations and have made me want to go on and read others by their authors. I apologize if my review seems harsh but it is my true feelings and I am very sad that I have to write this because I was expecting something far better.

A classic that I finally got to read. There is more to this book than meets the eye. Everyone should read it... it's not long but impactful nonetheless.

My daughter played sports in school. Believe me I miss watching but I do not miss bleacher butt, lol!

Can this continuation just be casual? I like no stress reading.

I was going to listen to this on hoopla but went with Kiki’s delivery service instead. I needed a children’s book for the Great Genre Pyramid (I think that’s the name) here on The Challenge Factory

Sure! This is just for fun now. I’m glad you’re on this journey. I thought I might be finishing out this game alone. I’m not reporting it to anyone so take all the time you need. I will roll again sometime tomorrow.

The Amish Seamstress by Mindy Starns Clark
4th in a series
Book/Author: The Amish Seamstress by Mindy Starns Clarke and Leslie Gould
Date read: 4/29/23

Rating 5 stars
This was the fourth book in the Women of Lancaster series
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This was an outstanding 4th book in the Women of Lancaster County series and was an easy and beautiful 5 star read for me. This book covered so many difficult subjects that the authors handled with sensitivity, caring and with beautiful writing it was a joy to read. I loved that we met up with characters we knew from the first three books of the series. I am so glad that I waited patiently for my library to get this so I could read it. I would absolutely recommend it as either a standalone , it's easy to read as such, or as the 4th in the series. If you are new to Amish fiction I think this book is a truly great introduction.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide, #1) by Douglas Adams
BOOK: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
FINISHED: 05/03/23
PAGES: 216
RATING: 🛸🛸🛸1/2
HOW IT FIT: The book takes place traveling across the galaxy
REVIEW: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams is a fun and funny romp across the galaxy with an earthling and a zany bunch of alien species. This happens just as the earth is destroyed for the construction of a galactic bypass.
I enjoyed this book and will continue with this series.
