I kinda liked the ending of this book, It was sad, but it was exciting too.
I was not satisfied with the ending at all. First of all, the Tris/Tobias angst was really annoying in this book. I felt like there was no real reason for there to be turmoil between them. I would have preferred that they both helped one another with their feelings and then got together to kick some ass. The fact that Tris always had to be right was aggravating which is why (view spoiler) I wasn't really that sad. I felt like her own stubbornness got her in that situation and I just didn't get upset.
Then in the prologue I felt like the ashes scene was a little cheesy. Although, I have to admit, when I think of seeing that scene in the movie whenever it comes out, I think I might tear up.
I was unimpressed by Allegiant all together. I felt like it was a quick tie up with no real glue to hold everything together.

It was one of the few interesting things to happen in the book. I don't mind characters dying but Tris's death felt like it was there to make a dull book interesting.
I didn't like at all, I was sad and pissed off. I really wanted to slap the writer badly. no one told her not to kill the main character of your story? can someone imagine if Harry Potter had died in the last book? Everyone would have gone ballistic
I didn't like the 3rd book much. The back and forth 1st person POV really confused me, I had to keep going back to the chapter page to see who was talking. I absolutely hated really hated I mean HATED that she killed Tris. Her reason for the ending (on some wiki page) came across as totally stupid to me.
In the end, like Cristina said, Tris had a death wish that Roth granted. Roth I really hate you for that.

I didn't like the ending. It would not have worked at all. So, Chicago became the only place "unaffected" by all the pure/damaged stuff; yeah, but not for very long, the outside would have influenced it back into all of that. There's no way to stop that influence. If they really wanted to change that, they would have had to change it everywhere. I remember, when they first made that plan, looking at how many more pages were left and thinking "Wait, this is the end? That's it? That wouldn't work! That's so dumb!"
Also, the whole "outside of the city" thing was an overkill. Why would VR ever spend so much time focusing on the turmoil inside the city if she was going to go outside and say that was a lot more important? It doesn't make sense. I liked the books up to the part when the characters started leaving the city.

In my opinion, what an amazing ending!! Okay, I cried forever and today I am still not over it. Im furious and upset and confused, but wow. Kudos to Veronica! What other author has the courage to create and ending like that to risk the comments. What a beautiful reuniting with her mother, and she changed Tobias for the better. It was smart and its not like you ever forget it.
I totally agree with all the people who posted all reasons to set on fire this book and send it straight to hell (and surely Satan will be enrage after reading it too). What bothers me the most is the fact that seems Roth was in such a hurry to finish the book that didn't bother in give it a proper ending. You got so shocked by high amount of drama-llama going on... but when you can return to normal after the WTFing attack you realize that there is not such thing as final to this story but you have to accept it , because there're no more pages left to read.
I hated the ending, it was absolutely awful just like the rest of the book. After the first two book I was waiting for this epic ending to such a brilliant storyline but, the whole book just let me down completely.
The third book should be lit on fire and forgotten. I think VR listened too much to criticisms of her other books and tried to make the series something it wasn't. And to do that, she tossed aside everything she'd built up to that point. She tossed characterization out the window. Tris and Tobias did whatever the plot needed them to do, when everything before that did not make them seem that stupid and/or evil.
I totally felt bad for Tobias.................but other than that the ending was..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Honestly, the first 2/3 of the books was so uninteresting to me that I was actually grateful the ending wasn't what I would normally expect. I think that was the best part of the book and actually made sense given Tris' character.
The only comfort I can take away from what happened is that Tris and Four were a *terrible* couple and had no business being together. I wanted them to be happy and perfect for one another, but Roth decided that they should fight and pick and argue ALL. THE. TIME. It was ridiculous. I did cry like a baby at the zip line scene though. I hope they use the same song when Tobias zip lines as they used in the first movie when Tris did it. I'll lose it right there in the movie theater.
I was really upset about the ending. It's was love, hate thing at the end for me..
I guess you cant always have a happy ending, but i really wanted one for them.
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY I'M STILL NOT OVER IT THAT STUPID ENDING RUINED MY LIFE. The books were great though! Why did Veronica have to do that?!
i don't know that i liked it exactly, i recall being kind of upset about how things played out but i think that given what we were probably all expecting to happen, it was nice htat it wasn't so clean as that.
i feel like there were a lot of directions that this final book could have gone, and this was maybe the path least traveled/expected so if i'm willing to put my biases aside, i think that it was pretty good.

I was sad and I really did not expect this ending but in general the book was great and I loved this trilogy
I hated it!!!!! But the book was awesome..... Why did Tris die, now I think Tobias will go on with Cristina.... Be Brave
i liked the ending finally NOT a happy ever after for the main characters. Not that I have anything against that, but a change is good once in a while.
I can not ad will not throw any shade on the ending of the book because it was a great ending. Of course many people wanted a "happy ever after" they didn't get, but the ending was still a great ending. I didn't want Tris to die ether tho
:(
:(
In my opinion, the ending of Allegiant was amazing. I like it even if (view spoiler) It was completely emotional at the part with Tobias and the zip lining scene. It ended in a special way and I hope they stick true to it when the last movie comes out.
Okay, can i just say that unlike some of you, i actually like allegiant.
I thought that no matter how little action that was in it. I liked it because it gave answers and explanation to my endless questions. I also loved all the genetically damaged and genetically pure stuff. I loved seeing different opinions on the way people are living and causes of their destruction and war.
In other words, I loved it more than the rest, even though their great. I just love allegiant a tiny bit more.
As for Tris death (sorry I don't know how to make the spoiler thingy), I really think you have to try looking at it in a different way. isn’t that what the goodreads discussions are all about, to see others opinion.
So, I think that you should try looking at it this way and then see how you feel.
Think of twilight. Okay. So, Bella lived through a bunch of crap she herself caused and put others around her in pain and danger. Then, after all her bull crap, she lived a happy ever after. She didn’t ever need to sacrifice anything. She got Jacob, a kid, the love of her life, super control, and never even had to leave her stinking family! It was just her in her damned fantasy world and nobody dies!
Now look at divergent. Tris starts out having to sacrifice her family to join dauntless. Then she meets four, started dating him, and made some friends. Then, some bull crap caused by the erudite (not her) killed lots of her friends, her parents, her ex faction and the friends who lived through all that got mad at her. After that, she gets put through more crap caused by Evelyn, and is forced to betray Tobias for his father, another sacrifice. In the end she dies a heroic death to save her brother and the rest of god knows how many people.
That didn't really come off the way I wanted, but anyways. So, if you think about it, divergent is all about sacrifice, love and real life. It shows that whenever you lose something you may or may not always gain something. She sacrificed herself to save people she barely knew in order to fix a broken society, and still succeeded, just died on the way.
Twilight was a fantasy world that Bella lived in full of selfishness, desire and some weird form of love that I like to call obsession. Bella kept the kid because it was Edwards, not caring what would happen to the pack, Edward, Jacob, her parents, and the Cullen’s.
So anyways, before I get carried away because that was nothing. So, Bella’s decisions were selfish and she tried to reason it out in her head to make her look like the good, shy girl. I mean, she was just about to kill Jacob for saving her daughter’s life and everyone just said, “wow! Her self-control is great!” really, she should have already thought of the possibility’s that somebody would imprint on ness and gone through the pros and cons. if she was smart like she said, she would have done that.
Bella pigheadedly ignored her flaws while Tris looked at her flaws, assessed them, and tried to make them better. Tris was a hero who had to learn about sacrifice and honor, which made a much better story. Bella never learned anything and the reader’s learned that you have to be immortal to be even with a man. Bella puts feminism back a century, and Tris puts feminism into a fun, intellectual read.
So my entire point was to tell you all that it was only logical for her to die (you don’t have to like it). If she didn't, this would be another twilight remake. If it was, I would have thrown the book into fire. So good job Roth! (By the way it’s not sarcastic)
sorry that was more twilight, but I got in the zone and couldn't get out. don't hate
