I knew it'd be bad.
And it was. Strangely hot, though.
Nearly done with these.
This is truly the worst of the worst gfy trope. And that's all I have to say.

Week 11, Roll 2, Spot 95

Book: Red Alert
Author: James Patterson
Pages: 338
How it fits: NYPD Red #5
Date read: 4/11/23
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: This installment of the series was a pretty decent story as the two MCs, Zach and Kylie, focus on two different homicide cases. They are members of the NYPD Red, an elite task force catering only to high-profile cases. In the first, a bomb at a fundraiser takes out a millionaire and sends shrapnel into the crowd. The second is the murder of a prominent heiress during auto-erotic asphyxiation. The underlying back story is the relationship of Zach and Kylie who had a torrid affair several years back. Each are in different relationships now but that past always looms large. Sometimes too large as it gets kind of old after 5 books. But anyway, a decent series.

Review: My least favorite of the series. It felt so drawn out. There were some scenes that I actually started to skip ahead. There was a scene where Felix made Lane "pole dance" for him but it just turned into this long drawn out comedy scene right before sexy time. I actually started getting bored. I've noticed with thos author that she loves her books to be long with scenes that seem to last forever. And if you are talking about a story where every line of dialogue is a joke that can get old fast. I just wish this audio was about 2 hours shorter.

Review: wow I was highly anticipating this story based on my prompt but This was filled with intrigue, political manuvering, covered almost all bases on the spectrum of LGBTQIA. Kato and Mas'ud are both surprised when they are both selected to be the pilots of Selvens, a newly birthed queenship. When a rouge ship nearly destroys Selvens both Kato and Mas'ud have amnesia. Kato is made to believe that he is a Kingship pilot while Mas'ud who was blinded is shunted aside to his engineering. The Rogue ship plans on destroying Earth and All families hurry to save Earth.

Review: Barely 2 stars. Honestly I was pretty bored with it. I've read way better Alpha/Omega/Mpreg books. The action, the dialogue, the sex, the fighting, even the narration was all pretty meh. Easily forgettable. I'm not sure if I will read more in the series

Review: I didn't really know what to expect from this book but was pleasantly surprised. MC Viv is an orc who has spent her life as a bounty hunter but is sick of this life and wants a change of profession. So she decides to open a coffee shop even though no one even knows what coffee is. With lots of help from people she meets, she is able to open her coffee shop, serving homemade pastries as well. Just a lovely bunch of characters and a light, fun read.

YA vibes. Too long.
Manufactured drama. Boys
were winsome, though. Sweet.
Like, it just didn't seem realistic that the 2 teenaged, not demi/ace boys just made out in bed together and alone with no touching for months. And, no, a book about a manufactured boy band who all get along like brothers except for the 2 who are banging isn't winning any realism prizes. BUT... this was just weird.
And, Danny and Elliott got together, all their friends and family totally accepted them, fans shipped them, but the EVIL management company made them fake date women? And then stopped, but started again? And then stopped, but started again? Until the MC who was most adamant about not wrecking the band's chances just declared his love and laid one on his bestie/boyfriend? Okayyyy. I was about 40% in and the MCs were together and in love and the band was a success, and we still had 60% to go. So we just went over and over the earlier beats with no real growth or change.

Review: I remember reading this when I first discovered MM romance. Then because new to the genre everything felt fresh. Now as a veteran reader of the genre it seems dated to the morals of the time it was written. A manners novel and infidelity definitely not my favorite. Charlie and Peter are so charming and a bit naive. It is well written just not for me.
