The author is female, I believe. I’m pretty sure their phones are video/holographic. Maain character is a female as well- She ends up traveling to Zion in Missouri, Christ does speak to her/appear to her? I remember she was going down some stairs and there is a picture of Christ on the wall above the stairs? She had a drug problem as well.

I’m not 100% it’s the books by Stephanie Black (The believer, the witness) I have reread those books yet, but from the preview chapters, I don’t think they are it, only for the lack for futuristic technology.

I think that’s the book. I’ll have to check it out to know for sure, but it sounds close. Stephanie Black‘ s books were familiar because of one of the main characters names, being similar to this one, and the author fits the name of who I thought the author might be. And that she never wrote her third novel to the series.
