This movie- I don’t remember if it’s the book- has one of my favorite lines in it. When Harry & Ron are in divination and Ron is reading Harry’s tea leaves - “your gonna suffer but be happy about it.” I guess Ron wasn’t too far off. And if I had a dollar for every time I said this line! I’d be doing ok. No one ever gets it’s but that’s ok, I’m just odd like that.

I had surgery and they got the tumor out with good margins and it hadn't spread to my lymph nodes. The chemo is to prevent future cancer. My friend gave me a card with that line on it cause it's very true about my current situation. I thought it was hilarious.
Just starting chapter 6. Everyone is safely back at school, or so it seems.Lupin is a great addition to the ensemble of characters.
This is still my favorite of the series! I love Gary Oldman & this movie was the tipping point for me to decide to read the books. I finished reading them right after seeing the final movie. I think the reason I love Prisoner of Azkaban so much is that it gets much darker & more mature in this book, even the title is darker. Plus it's (view spoiler).

Thinking back to December (when I read this because I am impatient) I have to agree with all the comments. This was a great read for me! I enjoyed the storyline and the characters in this book a lot. Ian, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it gets darker and more mature.

I did stop myself after book three and will be joining the group "reading monthly" in March for the next book - Goblet of Fire. :)

I am actually planning on throwing up the Goblet of Fire thread sometime this week for the March read. I will be joining you all on that one as I hadn't read book four yet. :)

I imagine if I was Harry's age when reading each book, it would be perfect. I was more like Charlie Weasley's age, but I loved tearing through the paperback box set 12 years ago or so.
I was older than the target audience when I read them too but I loved them! And still do. Got a Hufflepuff tag on my car, a Hufflepuff flag on my library door and all kinds more HP stuff through out the house.

We have a Marauders Map on the wall, a hogwarts castle that lives on our mantle & wands also up there. I just bought the mini HP christmas tree from Hallmark & already have a lot of HP ornaments. The best one is the animated sorting hat! I drink coffee most days from a death eater thermos or my color changing HP mug. My lady & I are Ravenclaws.

Just to let you all know I went ahead and put up the thread for book #4 Goblet of Fire for March.

Just in the Firebolt chapter and Hermione wanders into Harry and Ron's bedroom dorm. I thought there was some stiff magic preventing the opposite sex entering the dorms...Colour me thinking there might be a little plot hole here...
The the way Dumbledore treats everyone at the Christmas lunch including Trelawny really illustrates his compassion

Pushing into the final third. I love this book, and I think it just might be my favorite in the series.

I started last night and I swear I'm going to say this with every book - I love being back in this world with these characters. Why did I not do a full reread sooner???I only made it through Ch 2 and two chapters was plenty with the Dursley's lol

I agree. I like Lupin a lot. And it's about time they have a competent defense against the dark arts teacher.
Ch 6 specifically (view spoiler)

I just finished this chapter and I think you're right. Pretty sure Hermione shouldn't be able to just waltz right in to the boy dorms.
Narilka wrote: "If they bothered to pay attention, yep.."Indeed. I can't imagine the twins spending much time watching their little brother...
Done! I loved it! Dumbledore’s remarks about the dead we love just breaks my heart into a million pieces. I love that dear man.
