[Subdue]Just One Damned Thing After Another, 3.5 stars rounded up

Despite many false starts over the years, I still wanted to read this book. Someday. This year I put it on my subdue list to let the dice decide if now is the time. I finally got to see Max get through her interview and begin her career as a time-traveling historian with St Mary’s. Her assignments require her to answer specific questions about history without doing anything to change history. They were warned that History has a way to punish those who break that rule. It took a while to get a clue about how that works. The most exciting visits were to the Cretaceous period to see dinosaurs, where there were some surprises. I would have liked to learn a little more about history, but there were enough stories behind the scenes to fill the pages. There was enough complexity and drama in the book to keep me interested. I would have liked to see more depth in the character development.
