Book follows a teen girl who moves to a new city with her mom after her parents divorce and shes upset and begins to rebel catching the eye of this boy and together they try to solve a case regarding a missing girl. I remember one scene in particular which shows the girl and the boy breaking into an office of some sorta in an attempt to find papers but they get caught. the end scene included her kissing the boy before he gets on a bus

there is a sequel which start with her and her new boyfriend's car breaking down on the way to the mall and the boy from the last book shows up
