My absolute favorite Top 10 list of the year! Thank you so much for pulling it together!Now I am off to see what else I can add to my TBR...
Great list. I have four of the top 9 on my tbr list. Of the honorable mentions I've read 6 and have six on my tbr.
I've read 5 of the top 9, but sadly didn't care for two of those. I do want to read Horse and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow for sure.I've only read 5 of the Honorable Mentions. It will be 6 after this month as one of them is for my face to face book club.
I've read 5 from the top 9 and 7 of our honorable mentions. I'm guessing that some of these will return at the end of this year.

Question about Lessons in Chemistry .... Is the cover representative of the book? Because at first glance, that does not seem like a book for me. But the description sounds intriguing. Is it chick lit?
I've read 7 of the top 9 and have the remaining 2 on hold at the library. For the honorable mentions, I've read 11 with a few others on my TBR and one that I own and should read soon. Agree that it is a great list!
Nikki D, I do not think the cover matches the book at all. Horrible marketing, honestly. The book is fairly serious, about a female scientist in the…1960s? So deals with sex discrimination in the workplace a lot and gender roles. Not super heavy, but does have very serious themes.
I have read four of the Top 9 and five of the honorable mentions, but have ten others on my giant TBR. I'm looking forward to reading them.

Definitely not chick lit. And it is funny so you might enjoy the wit. But I was not a fan overall so you can read my review for the one and only counter opinion. All my friends in my face to face book club LOVED it.
I liked Lessons in Chemistry. I probably gave it around four stars. Its funny - when I came down to it, it just didn't compare to others that I knew would be top ten. I also read it earlier in the year.
Wow, I've only read two - Project Hail Mary and Klara and the Sun, both in previous years. But several are already on my TBR and I will be adding others.

I was thinking the same thing as Nicole D - the cover does not appeal to me at all, so thanks for the additional info. I may give it a try.
I've read 21 of these and enjoyed almost all of them. It's a great list.
I always look forward to the PBT Top Ten! Best Top Ten list out there every single year.
One interesting thing about Lessons in Chemistry, is that the character is quirky and spectrumy - today we would completely understand this. But back then, there was no compartment for this. Folks did not know how to understand or perceive this and she had that mountain to climb on top of all the others. She was just different in every way and had to carve her own path. I remember writing that if she were around then doing what she was doing, feminism would have moved a lot quicker.
Guess I’m an outlier in my reading tastes. I’ve only read one of the Honorable Mentions (Remarkably Bright Creatures ) and none of the top 9. Don’t even have any of the others on my want to read lists.
Now I don't remember if I've shelved the honourable mentions along with the top ones. I'll double check before I do the shelving... Anyway, no surprise that none of mine are there. One of my lowest rated of the year is one of the honourable mentions ("A Gentleman in Moscow").
Of the top 9, I have currently read one "The Dutch House"; I believe I have "The Colony" on my tbr. And "Klara and the Sun". Happy to see I've at least read a few (6) of the honourable mentions.
ETA: My mistake - It is a different "The Colony" that is on my tbr.
Am I correct that only 3 of the top 9 were part of the Who's PBT's Favourite author challenge? (I thought it might actually be higher, if nothing else, than because so many people were reading those authors!)

Early in that century, it was considered ok for women to study "natural sciences" as a way of appreciating God's creation. But as science became more respected and codified, men took over. After the talk, I asked people about their experiences in the sciences. Women described insulting and discriminatory experiences from the 1960's all the way up to the present. Less obvious today but still can be an issue.

This is pretty common for me, I read outside the box (mine and everyone elses-LoL)

These lists are often mostly recent literary fiction -- I tend to read older books and a lot of genre fiction that don't make these year top 10 lists.
I always say that new books have to 'mature' a bit before I get to them -- except for a long awaited genre series book sometimes.

Great list! I’ve read 5 of the top 9, and 10 of the honorable mentions. I have many on my tbr and 5 on deck waiting. I’m glad True Biz made the list. It deserves some attention.

I've read six of the honourable mentions, but only 4 of the top 9, but that's because I couldn't get Lessons in Chemistry in time to read it in 2022. The Dutch House was one of my top 10 picks in a previous year.

Fascinating list! I haven't read many of these, but I am glad Klara and the Sun made it. It's definitely one of the best ones I read last year.

There are so many fabulous choices for this candle!
Such a fun list! Typically I only have 2 or 3 favorites. This helps me read more fantastic books and not waste time on those that are only on a list because of hype. Thanks.
