PattyMacDotComma | 1305 comments I do love a good short story. Alice Munro's How I Met My Husband, like her others, is entertaining and easy to read, but there is always more to think about - good for bookclubs.

PattyMacDotComma | 1305 comments Treacle Walker by Alan Garner is a hurlothrumbo of a read, that's for sure. It's a wild world of folk and fantasy packed into a short book that was short-listed for the 2022 Booker Prize. Loved the whole experience. 😊

Jackie | 32 comments I'm reading "The Last White Rose," by Alison Weir (group choice for May). I've also been reading, "London," by Edward Rutherfurd. The latter is only 1124 pages, so it's taking me some time. I have GOT TO GO to England!

Edward Rutherfurd books are always very long and detail oriented. Enjoy.

PattyMacDotComma | 1305 comments Jussi Adler-Olsen's novel Mercy is also known as The Keeper of Lost Causes. Police prefer to think of them as cold cases, and Danish detective Carl Mørck has been 'promoted' to the basement to reheat them.

A YA novel dealing with several mental health 'monsters'. Goes a bit overboard with the themes, but otherwise, an amazing read.

I read it on archive.org It’s free to read. You may have to make an account, which is also free and useful. Not sketchy. It’s like an online library for everyone, kind of like how libraries are free.

Alice | 6456 comments I finshed The Mistletoe and the Sword: A Story of Roman Britain The Mistletoe and the Sword A Story of Roman Britain by Anya Seton by Anya Seton. 3 stars out of 5. Anya Seton is won of our early HF writers, this book was first published in 1955. I have read many of her other books and liked them a lot. This one I felt was rushed it is only 253 pages and it jumps from month to month quickly with out a lot of filler. It is set in 60 AD Englad with Rome invading. The writing is lovely, clear and crisp.
