Nicole wrote: "I just finished Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara And The Sun. I might start Bram Stoker’s Dracula tomorrow."I started Klara but could not get through it. Did you like it?
What We Remember Will Be Saved: A Story of Refugees and the Things They Carry by Stephanie Saldana
A heartbreaking but impactful set of true life narratives focussed on 'refugees' and the lives they left behind.

I have just finished reading Backli's Ford: An A'lle Chronicles Mystery by Michelle Dube and tomorrow I will begin The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.
Roman Stories by Jhumpa Lahiri
Not a bad collection. But expected far more from her.

I finished What the Dead Leave Behind
by Rosemary Simpson. Set in 1888 New York City. A very well plotted out book. Ms. Simpson took time to develop the characters and secondary characters. Mystery was well laid out. The series is called the Gilded Age Mysteries. I would have liked to have seen a bit more historical setting. The was a bit of talk of Civil War. There is talk of gas lights and Hanscom cabs but more historical setting would have helped. Overall a very good book.
Boy of Chaotic Making by Charlie N. Holmberg
Though this third book didn't match up to the earlier two in the series, I still liked it quite a lot. Good for historical fantasy readers, but not a standalone novel.

That was a fun book. I enjoyed it. The TV show did not do it justice.

Thanks, Rachel. Have heard both pro & con on the mini series. Doubt if we'll watch as we mostly only watch free streaming.
The less I say the better, I think, about All That's Left Unsaid by Aussie author Rowena Holloway. Not for me.
My review of All That's Left Unsaid
I enjoyed the story of fugitive spook 'Bird' in
A Bird in Winter
by Louise Doughty. Glad I read it when I was warm at home, though, (and nobody was chasing me).
My review of A Bird in Winter
Just started
I read it about thirty years ago and was engrossed. Re-reading it now, the 'present' time is now the 1980s- so it's interesting to read what was considered contemporary then...no laptops, no phones...and that was the world I grew up in.
I'm enjoying the early chapters and looking forward to seeing how it hold up thirty years on.
October in the Earth by Olivia Hawker
A historical fiction work set around two women who rode the rails in post-depression era USA. Enjoyed the unusual perspective.

A Lady to Treasure by Marianne Ratcliffe
An interesting indie historical fiction about two strong and intelligent woman. Mild romance, more drama.

It Waits in the Woods is reason enough not to venture down that way. Josh Malerman has added his creepy short story to Amazon's Creature Feature Collection.
My review of It Waits in the Woods
Big Cat for Little Wandle Fluency ― THE WOLF WHO CRIED BOY is a twist with an environmental bent on the folk tale of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. I like this version by Bali Rai better.
My review of The Wolf Who Cried Boy with several illustrations
Finished The Last Letter: A Father's Struggle, a Daughter's Quest, and the Long Shadow of the Holocaust

Fantasy short story fans! You cannot miss out on Unexpected Encounters of a Draconic Kind and Other Stories by Beka Gremikova
A collection as stunning as the cover. Loved this Canadian indie work.

I think we all have the same problem : we would like to read all the books in the world but it takes time we don't have enough ! :-D
You don't even know how long is my to-be-read list...
Finished The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys. Rated 3 stars. Young Adult historical fiction set in 1950's Spain.Link to my review:

I just finished to read a the first book in a historical series named "CRIME AND PASSION ", actually, despite that title of series, there is nothing shocking bloody and no hot scenes, just an enjoyable mystery-clean romance ( except a little, very little sex scene in the end of the book )I liked it very much ! Mysterious Lover
by Mary LancasterHere you can read my review : https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished The Body Under the Piano #1 Aggie Morton by Marthe Jocelyn. Rated 4 stars. Delightful middle school/young adult historical mystery set in 1902 England who's main character is loosley based on real life Agatha Christie age 12. Link to my spoiler free review:

Just finished Outback by Aussie author Patricia Wolf, whose exciting thriller is about a hot, dry part of the world that she knows well but that these unfortunate tourists didn't.
My review of Outback
Janice wrote: "I am still reading The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins."That's my favorite by Wilkie Collins, I loved it so much !
... contrary to general public opinion I didn't really like The Moonstone
The Lost Boys of Barlowe Theater by Jaime Jo Wright
Never knew there were Christian thrillers as well. Loved this one!

Read HMS Ulysses
. This was Alistair Maclean's debut novel first published in 1955. A story of the brutal conditions faced by the merchant convoys of WWII, escorted by British warships on the run to Murmansk above the Artic Circle. A solid four stars for this first novel by this famous author.
Eric wrote: "Read HMS Ulysses

Tasmanian writer
Richard Flanagan
is one of the very best Aussie authors, whether it's for his prize-winners and best-sellers or his essays and articles, some of which are collected in And What Do You Do Mr. Gable?. Intelligent, thoughtful, passionate, unique. Love his work.
My review of And What Do You Do, Mr. Gable?
PattyMacDotComma wrote: "I haven't thought of his books in ages, Eric. Why I got the whim to go back, I do not know, but I hit pay dirt. I'm sure there are others of Alistair Maclean's I missed along the way. Just found one by Sloan Wilson about the US Coast Guard in Greenland during WWII. We know Wilson for The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit.
I finished a fun Historical mystery A Girl Called Justice
by Elly Griffiths. I love Elly Griffiths' Ruth Galloway Series. I wasn't so sure about this one as our main character is 11. Very well done set in 1936 England. It is not just about a mystery but about grief, going to new places, making friends. Can't wait to read book 2.
Rachel wrote: "Thanks for alerting me to that one. I am going to read The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit."Don't forget the 1956 movie of the same name based on the book starring Gregory Peck.
Finished Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Rated 4 stars. Enjoyed this more then I expected although not as much as her The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry which I loved.
Peggyzbooksnmusic wrote: "Finished Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Rated 4 stars. The lack of familiarity with gaming didn't affect my experience, thankfully. :) Yet to read A.J. Fikry though.
