Hi, all, and Happy New Year.

For February, lets look at books set in the 20th century. Thriller, mystery, suspense, whatever, as long as it's set between 1900 and 1999, it's fair game, even if it was written in the 21st century. (Or, I suppose, written in the 19th century.)

As always,
1. do NOT nominate your own book
2. if your book wins the poll vote you will be leading the discussion. Obviously you shouldn't a nominate a book if you don't wish to participate.

Also, please check the group's bookshelf to make sure we haven't read your nomination in the last couple of years.

I'll take nominations through January 10th, and then I'll set up the poll for voting.

So, on your marks! ...
Get set! ...
Nominate!

[And if you're interested, look into Nancy's Reading the Movies. They're just starting [book:The Big Sleep|2052] by Raymond Chandler.]

Hi, all.

I'm about to launch the poll for February. With 11 books to choose from, I'm skipping a few of the above because I'm not sure they were set in the 20th century (Moonflower Murders, The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, Murder Borrowed, Murder Blue, The Hunting Party). But keep them in mind for future group reads.

Christine Mathieu | 583 comments My suggestion is "The Blank Wall" by Elisabeth Sanxay-Holding which was filmed with James Mason & Joan Bennett (The Reckless Moment, 1949). Wonderful film noir, great novel.
