Aoife | 39 comments I'm not sure I'd last in a city tbh with you! I like being really close to forests and stuff, when I lived in a city I was always making plans to leave it

Yeah there's nothing worse than having to stand in front of people when you have one. I got one before when I was doing a training for a group of students, there was maybe 40 people in the room and I was the only person running the workshop. It was not my best work lol

Bees are great tbh I'm trying to convince my estate to get some hives

message 102: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Aoife: Ah, I see, LoL I enjoy nature/outdoors within reason and after I take my allergy pills. It's relaxing, you know? I always like doing that every now and then, many years ago I used to do "Fall excursion tours" in Upstate, NY when the leaves were changing and all, light hiking, and just soaking it all in!

LoL oh for sure and welp, at least you tried your best :-)

I hope your estate gets some bee hives as that would rock!

message 103: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 39 comments Yeah I love camping and stuff so I love being outdoors. Winter camping can be awful if you're not prepared but can be great fun!
That sounds like a lot of fun!!

Sure look at least I finished it out even if I went and had a nap after it in a little circle chair lol

I'm pushing it hard I won't lie

message 104: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Aoife: That's so awesome! I've never done winter camping before, but imagine? Fireplace? Nature sounds? READING AT NIGHT?!!?!? That has to be an amazing experience, I'm sure.

LoL nice!

I hope one day you reveal that it happened! GO BEE HIVES GO!

message 105: by Natalie🖤 (new)

Natalie🖤 Okay winter camping with a fire and a good book sounds AMAZING!

message 106: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Natalia: Hell yeah!

Kirsten (kmcripn) | 90 comments I love camping, haven't done it since I was a kid, though. I'd wait till winter was over though.

message 108: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Kirsten: LoL that's a good point, I can ONLY imagine how cold it could get deep into the night!

message 109: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 39 comments Winter camping with a nice bonfire does sound fantastic! When I do camp, I usually bring a book or mu kindle depending on how long we're out (kindle is so light and handy not to bring too many books lol) so 100% on the night time reading buzz.

They're starting to warm up to the bees I just have to keep pushing the good for the flowers angle lol

message 110: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Aoife: Hell yeah, I'd love to try it just once to do winter camping with a bonfire, coffee/hot chocolate, and conversations. I also wouldn't mind reading at night in a tent until I eventually pass out, LoL must be nice with REAL nature sounds and not the playlists I use on Apple Music :-)

Oh for sure, I love my Kindle for that reason... thousands of books in such a little, simple device. It's amazing!

YES!!! GO AOIFE GO!!! LoL keep fighting the good fight :-)

I went to Amazon and I can't get it until March 1st.

message 116: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Aoife: YES! LoL ohhhhhhhhh, Bailey's hot chocolate you say? SOLD!!!

LoL please keep me posted on the bees, my fingers are also crossed :-D

message 117: by Dani (new)

Dani | 25 comments Mmm, Liquor is usually a no from me, but that Bailey's hot chocolate isn't sounding half bad lol.

Do any of you run a simmer pot in the winter? Our skin and lips were getting chapped to shreds around here! The simmer pot replaces candles (no thank you to breathing in parabens) and acts as a humidifier for the apartment.

Our skin and lips are chapped no more, and it smells like autumn baking in here all day. I use orange, cinnamon, lemon, and rosemary currently...But any aromatic will work! 😍

It also makes reading time sooo much cozier lol

message 118: by Tammy (new)

Tammy That sounds like a good idea Dani, we use a humidifier though I miss the potpourri days.

How is everyone doing? I'm still recovering from being ill on vacation. I feel better for a couple of days and then everything comes back. I really read for this to be over.

Dani wrote: "Do any of you run a simmer pot in the winter? Our skin and lips were getting chapped to shreds ar..."
Where do you live? My skin is always skin and lips are always dry but it gets a lot worse in the winter. We had a freeze alert here last night and we're in southern Arizona.

LTJ wrote: "Bailey's hot chocolate you say? SOLD!!!"
Bailey's hot chocolate is da bomb. Almost as good a Liquid Oreos.

Mark Baker (carstairs38) | 650 comments Sounds like weather is crazy all over the country. Here in So Cal, we went from mid-70's on Monday to not even hitting 50 today. I didn't get any snow, but there have been reports of snow flurries (nothing sticking long to the ground) in other parts of the area. And we are supposed to get four inches of rain tomorrow.

Over the weekend the weather forecast called for rain every day for about 10 days... not usual for the Phoenix area. It hasn't raided that much but it the temperatures have dropped enough that we're having freeze warnings overnight. Strange weather.

message 123: by Dani (new)

Dani | 25 comments @Gem I'm over on the East Coast. I've got dry skin year around too. I'm always trying to find ways to stay moisturized naturally during the winter months. I make my lotion — which tends to be lots of fun. The simmer pot was my husband Dave's idea, and boy, it was a winner!

Our weather has been crazy also, as expected. We got up to the eighties yesterday out of the blue, followed by a week of fifties and sixties. The drastic weather changes can be hard on my head with my migraines. Ugh!

message 124: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Gem: Hell yeah it is :-D

message 125: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) And yeah, the weather in NY today is super cold with flurries, no real snowstorm but bitter cold.

I don't usually like liquor either, Dani, but Baileys and coffee is wonderful. Especially during a winter freeze like we're having. Just raise your glass and toast for spring to come.

I'm in NC and our weather has been the same as yours. I prefer the chilly side to the warm side although my yard is beautiful right now.

We were without power since Wednesday night from that huge ice storm, then roaring winds...Detroit area, Michigan. We finally got our power on last night late. We'd stayed at home with our kitty Charlie, we weren't going to leave him behind. It was COLD in our house, down into the 40s...yikes. So glad our power is back, and heat, lights, phone, internet. Some people in Michigan are still without power, even now. Stay safe, all...weather is wicked lately.

message 129: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @K.K: Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that and am glad at least the power came back on last night. I shall send positive thoughts and good vibes to you/your family and those in Michigan, that's wild!

Stay safe as well :-)

Dani | 25 comments How is everyones week starting off? I've started a new romance/fantasy series that has stolen me away from my horror genre for a while haha. My next audiobook will have to be a good mystery. I'm craving it!

My current audiobook is Crooked Kingdom, it is dragging on so slowly for me. I'm enjoying it, but also already anticipating my next read 🧐 I always have one audio and one physical book in the mix.

Woohoo! Short weeks are the best, that's exactly how we spend our time around here lol. Hope you enjoy your books, what kind of games do you play?

message 133: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: Oh yes! I enjoy it as I definitely needed some time off to rest my soul. Thank you ever so much and right now, mostly Steam games (CS:GO/Torchlight 3) in my library. LoL just like with books, I have a ton of video games I've yet to touch so I'm slowly going through them :-)

You?

I play a lot of Xbox games myself. Call of Duty has always been a big one for me. Lately, I've been playing a lot more mindless/cozy games like Minecraft and Stardew Valley lol. We like to play video games while listening to audiobooks together around here (or music, of course!)

A new game came out recently in the series "The Dark Pictures Anthology" it has four horror games in it now — I think. They are games where you make choices affecting the game and the ending/outcomes you get. The newest one is set in a hotel. It's super creepy. I LOVE it so far!

message 135: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: Very awesome, my friend! I've always played Call of Duty every year as the initial rush is fun but then I get bored and move onto other games. LoL I'm always flip-flopping through games these days as I try to find the main one to stick with and enjoy for a while as I used to many years ago with World of WarCraft.

I remember with WoW, I played from beta for 10+ years straight, it was amazing. I prefer just finding a fun, new, solid gaming franchise and just making it my main game to enjoy for years. That's why I wish CoD would maybe do "CoD: Online" or something, put every legendary map in there, make it free-to-play, battlepasses, the works!

I've played The Dark Pictures Anthology, so much fun!!!

message 136: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Hello. I am saving up for a top drawer gaming laptop for next year, but I'll probably use it for more boring purposes.

I am reading a thick book and I'm about to finish it within 2 days. It will boost my average page read per book on GR, a stat I can't ignore try as I might :)

message 137: by LTJ (new)

Dani | 25 comments It's Friday Jr. everyone! Got any good books in the mix right now? I'm listening to the audio version of "What Lies in the Woods" at the moment. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Finishing up crocheting a baby blanket for one of my honey's coworkers as I listen (I've actually made two, seems like it's pregnancy season at their office😂). It's so soft I'm thinking of making a large blanket for myself soon after lol

Any hobbies you all enjoy doing in your free time? I'm also working on a large paint-by-number. They are so soothing to me. I love a mindless craft.

message 141: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: Happy Friday Jr.! I'm reading and enjoying “Churn the Soil” by Steve Stred while playing some VALORANT matches. Both have been pretty good so far tonight :-)

That's so awesome you're crocheting a baby blanket, I'm sure it's going to come out awesome! For me, my main hobbies are reading, gaming, and just taking it easy. I'm a simple homebody that loves a hot cup of coffee, a novel/gaming, and staying home relaxing. It's a nice feeling every time :-D

Yes, same here! Super homebody lol Nothing feels better

Happy ...not Friday anymore, but almost there again to everyone lol

I'm feeling super sleepy today, I blame it on the pollen. Spring has brought on all of the allergies in this household, SHEW!

message 146: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: LoL oh yes, I mean, being home is a simple yet amazing thing. All my stuff is here, I can make my own food, coffee, sleep, relax, game, read, everything! I know people love to go out and don't get me wrong, a few times a week I don't mind going to a diner, mall, or a drive but nothing beats home to me :-P

LoL yeah, it's Wednesday, middle of the week, looking forward to my next few days off (Fri/Sat) to read, game, and take it easy. I hope you're doing well, my friend :-)

Do you also suffer from allergies? It gets me every season and yeah, I definitely need to catch up on sleep come the weekend!

Yes!! That's exactly how we are lol We've got everything at home that keeps us happy here. I'd rather be in than out any day. I am doing well and hope the same for you!

I am a huge sufferer of seasonal allergies. My allergy pill has been doing the trick until today, a bit of them have crept through lol My eyes felt like they were glued shut this morning before my coffee and pill kicked in. Even then I've been sniffling up a storm 😂

message 148: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: LoL EXACTLY! A lot of people, especially as we get older, appreciate time at home. I consider it precious to stay home on a rainy/snow/cold or whatever day and just do whatever the hell I want. LoL it's good for the soul :-D

I hope the allergies don't hit you hard this season as I know your pain as I deal with that as well. Back in November, my doctor prescribed me "Montelukast" which I think is also called Singulair and it's been working as I've had about 5 months of being on this, taking it every night, and I noticed my usual morning sneeze attacks a lot better these days.

Which allergy pill do you take? For YEARS Zrytec was magic to me but now this has replaced it and it makes me very happy :-)

I hope better days are ahead for you, my friend!

message 149: by Dani (new)

Dani | 25 comments Thank you! haha Yes, I take off-brand Zrytec (it seems to work just as well as the real thing) and it does a pretty good job. It seems like it's good to switch it up from time to time and another will work even better.

I take mine in the morning so when I wake up I'm all sneezy and clogged LOL but the pill works throughout the entirety of the day so hey, it's alright with me!

message 150: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) @Dani: Anytime and yes, that'll do the trick as well! LoL yeah, I like to take it at night but sometimes when the mornings are rough, I also take one then as well. I hate it but the relief is nice :-)
