Janice, stay safe. I did not know about the fires until I read about it in your posts. Wish I could share the rain with you and send you some. The weather is crazy we have had too much rain here.
My thoughts are with you all. It must be terrible being close to the fires and also those affected by the smoke further south.
Thinking of you all with this crazy weather things happening. Stay safe. I hope this will end soon. Apperantly the smoke of the Canadian fires reached New York and now the air is thick with orange smoke. We're having a heatwave the last days. Today, rain and thunder just came out of nowhere, but the next days/weeks will be very hot again.
No smoke around here.Sorry I was travelling for work last week. Really happy that I flew via Toronto and not New York.
The smoke was really bad here yesterday, but the forecast was calling for the rain to start last night and not stop for a week or more, so that meant outside work getting the Jeep buttoned up and the last of the garden finally planted. I just hope it didn’t change its mind because the “rain” we got last night barely counted as a sprinkle 🤦♀️

Glad to know!

We had a good rain yesterday. First in 3 weeks, which is very rare for the valley I live in. Spring and summer are generally kind of rainy. I hope you a good rain too.
Hope folk in Canada got rain and that the smoke situation is clearing in Ca/US. I'm still finding it v hard to get a good report anywhere to what is happening ATM'Saar, We had storms and rain here tuesday and wednesday too. Lightning as well. It was right over where I live. We had a couple of crashes like the roof was caving in. Found out today that in a house 1/2 mile away a woman was washing up at her kitchen sink when the out side pipe, made of copper, was hit by lightning and it travelled up the pipe and through her body! She'd be dead only that she was waring rubber soled shoes and emergency services arrived almost immediately! Who knew dish washing was so hazardous???
Another house not far away was hit and 2 TVs, an Xbox and some floor tiles were taken out! Pete was saying that it should really be part of the planning permission process that an earthing point be installed on every chimney pot.
We're expecting another storm today so please god nobody gets hurt.
Waw, the woman got very lucky! If I were her, I would replace the copper pipe. It looked like this was a serious storm. We now had a heatwave for almost 2 weeks and now it's going away, finally.
I've had a whirlwind of a week! Finally heading home today. I've been visiting family and friends over the past week and had a bunch of celebrations and get-togethers. I think I'm going to sleep for a week. hahaha Actually, bringing the grand-boy back home with us for a visit. :)
That sounds lovely, Kristie! When I woke up this morning, my body just said no. I went to work but after 4 hours I just had to go home. I don’t know if I’m coming down with something or what’s happening but well, more reading time for me then!

I hope you feel better soon, Fiona. Take Care.
He's 13, Sandra! It went by in a snap. We had a long, rough traveling day. There were storms over the airport where we were supposed to catch a connecting flight and we had to be diverted to a small airport nearby. Then, there was all sorts of confusions to how we were going to get there and technical issues, missed connections, etc. But, we finally made it! It is about 1:45am and we are finally getting ready to settle in for the night.
Hope you were able to get some rest and feel better quickly, Fiona!
Kristie, that sounds like an annoying travel day. Glad you’re home safe! Thanks for the well wishes. I’ve got a fever now as well 🤒
Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly Fiona. I do hope you feel better soon. A fever is not nice!Glad you made it Kristie. Travelling can be such a nightmare during storms.
Thanks, Saar and Anna! Waiting for my grocery delivery right now. I’m hungry and can’t go there myself 🥲
Oh no, Fiona. Hopefully, it will pass quickly. Thanks, Fiona & Anna. It was a pretty crummy travel day, but we were really glad we made it home. I had a friend on the same flight, but making a different connection and she was stuck over night in the connecting town and there were no available flights to her destination until tomorrow evening. She is taking a flight closer to her destination today, getting picked up and driving home. Plus, she doesn't know where her bags are. So, one crummy travel day into another for her.
Today is laundry & groceries day after traveling. Never been so grateful to be able to do those chores. lol
Oh no, Kristie, that doesn’t sound good! I hope your friend will be back home safe as well! I’m so grateful I never really had any issues with delays etc. The only problem I ever really had was last year when I flew from India back to Germany and made a stop in Bahrain. They didn’t want to give me my boarding pass to go to Istanbul lol
Oh geez, Fiona! That's not good either. lol There was a young man on our plane and this was his first flight. He was supposed to fly to Australia a couple of years ago, but it was cancelled due to Covid. This was his second attempt at air travel. I felt so bad for him because he was a little nervous then all this happened. He ended up getting off and finding alternate transportation to his final destination, which was closer than going back to our original connecting airport. Not a great first flight experience! But he'll certainly have a story to tell.

Your trip back home sounds like a modern Odyssey. And I agree, I only enjoy doing laundry when I come back from a trip. Lol. I hate it every other day of my life.

I had to go look to see when I joined! lol I joined in October 2014, so almost 9 years ago. He is almost 14 now, so would have been 5 when I joined.

Poor guy! I generally love flying but I have this irrational fear that if I sit in the back, everyone in front of me will fall onto me during take off lol I even dream about it often.

Thanks! I am reading as much as my eyes and ears let me at the moment!

lol! Funny the weird things we dream about. I was actually in the very last row, in the seats that don't recline at all, right next to the bathroom on this flight. Just the perfect storm or horrible. lol
Oh my arms! I just finished my first PT session. We worked on arms today as I am running a 5km race tomorrow so there was no way I wanted to work on leg strength training!! I can hardly type..... This whole fitness thing is going to kill me lol
Thanks everyone! I did it and boy was it hot! 46:45 and 15th in my category so for a first race I will take it! Two horrific hills too. I’m now in the garden reading. Great way to celebrate!
Hi everyone - just a little shout out that the July Challenge will be posted later today when I get home from work. Apologies, I haven't been able to get into Goodreads for over 24 hours. Lots of error messages and down for maintenance. Not sure if that was everyone, or I'm just special :D

It's horrible, and stressful, and draining. I really hope it all ends soon for you all
