I'm planning to read this one for next month's theme. :) I can't wait. Everyone I know that has read it loved it.
I made a decision.I will start Good Girl, Bad Blood on kindle tonight, and will start Later Gator on audiobook tomorrow. That series always has me laughing. I'll see what mischief these characters get up to.
Reading for my courses is taking most of my reading time, so I haven't get to a just-because read in a while. I'm reading one short story everyday during breakfast from The Big Book of Ghost Stories. I'm loving the selection so far.
That's a great idea, Sandra. Short stories is a good way to inject some "me" time into a busy schedule.
I'm currently reading four books. Check & Mate - I'm about 50% through. I'm enjoying it so far. I was suppose to read this for review before publication, but got derailed with a migraine.
Fourth Wing - I'm at 83% in this one and it's really good. I was hesitant to read it because fantasy isn't always my favorite genre, but I'm enjoying the story a lot.
A Brighter Flame - Group themed read. I'm at 83% in this one too and loving it as well. It's an interesting story about family relationships. I think this is the first thing I've ready by Christine Nolfi.
The Heiress - Just started. I'm late for a buddy read because I was still reading all the other books.
My reading has taken a hit this month due to the long-term migraine I had. I haven't finished a book yet this month, but I'm finally making some progress. Once I finish up these four, I'll settle back into my two at a time (1 audio, 1 physical).
Water. We begin life in water, we are made up mostly of water, we play and exercise and refresh ourselves in water. The protagonist in award-winning Irish author John Boyne's new novel is both drawn to it and repelled by it. I'm biased - I always love his work. 😊
My review of Water
If you'd like to amuse yourself for a few minutes, have a look at Laura a classic short story by Saki. It's free to read.
My review of Laura with a link to the story online.

I feel like this is the way to go. lol I was surprised when I looked and saw the other two were the same. I even had to recheck it to make sure I didn't accidentally look at the wrong one.
Just finished The Marriage Act. Disappointed that it didn't live up to its potential. Started Wolfsong last night and I'm loving it so far.
@Kristie: it's a light read, with some twists and of course the cats and dolphins. It has an Indiana Jones vibe, a Jambes Bond vibe with a bit of Gru from Despicable Me. And you will laugh a lot ;)@Esther: have you read The Kaiju Preservation Society? I think you'll enjoy it too.
I finished Later Gator and had some good chuckles and laughter. That trio sure get themselves into some pickles. Can you even befriend an alligator?I will start The Shadows either tomorrow or the next day and try to finish it for the monthly challenge.

Janice wrote: "I will start [book:The Shadows|..."I'll be interested to see how you get on with that Janice, I've been tempted by it a few times.
I finished Wolfsong and wasn't that keen on it. It was ya plus some very grapic sex scenes which seemed to go forever. Moved on to Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers.
Kids, Christmas, myths.
Kid Christmas: Of The Claus Brothers Toy Shop
is David Litchfield's colourful interpretation of a Santa Claus /Saint Nicolas origin story. Beautifully done. I think kids will love it.
My review of Kid Christmas with many illustrations and a summary of the story
I am not reading much at the moment. Covid killed my sleeping pattern and I am so tired at night that I read one paragraph over and over. And when I have free time during the day I am in a knitting. But I started The Narrow Road Between Desires, which is a novella in the world of The Kingkiller Chronicle. It describe "a day in the life of Bast"
Cute so far.

I have an hour left. I'm on the fence about it to tell you the truth. I'm interested in how it ends because what they just revealed doesn't make sense.
Hmm, thanks Janice, think I'll take it off my wishlist. I was wavering!Just finished Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and I really enjoyed it. It's a cosy murder mystery set in Chinatown, Florida. Just what I was in the mood for.
Moving on to The Stranger Upstairs which tooks far from cozy!
I finished The Shadows and didn't really enjoy it all that much.I've decided to go back to what's tried and tested, and read My Bonny Light Horseman: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, in Love and War. I wonder what Jacky has been up to.

I felt my fingers tingling too. I haven't knitted in a long while.
I just started reading Hercule Poirot's Christmas for my yearly challenge.
I just enjoyed The Mystery Writer by one of my favourite authors, Aussie Sulari Gentill. This one has a couple of Aussie characters in the US, caught up in murder, conspiracies and preppers. Good stuff!
My review of The Mystery Writer
I'm reading My Bonny Light Horseman: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, in Love and War on audiobook, and A Sheriff in Nevada on ebook.Cool story - I play games on It's Your Turn site, and was playing a game with a JT Hume. I kept thinking the name was familiar so I searched it on Goodreads. He's an author here! We've been chatting ever since, and I'm now reading his book.
I've started The Charisma Myth for the monthly challenge. Not sure if I'll be able to finish it all tomorrow, but I'm going to try. I have the audio and it's quite interesting, so I may try to read the physical book some time, probably next year. Interesting tidbit - I thought it was a peacock on the cover, but it's actually a chicken with peacock tail feathers.
The most charismatic of birds, the chicken. She says with two 6-7 week old chicks asleep on her arm.

The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave shows the cruel reality of life in Finland's harsh and frozen far north in the 1600s. Witch-hunting was rife. Based on true events.
My review of The Mercies
I've just enjoyed The Long Game, the first of Aussie author Simon Rowell's series featuring Detective Sergeant Zoe Mayer. Her new service dog, Harry, is helping her get back in harness herself after a bad bout of PTSD.
My review of The Long Game (Detective Zoe Mayer #1)

Cherie asked in the Watcha Doin thread what they were, so I posted a photo if you want a sleeping chicklet pile in your life :D

I'm listening to The Queen's Gambit and reading some Christmas short stories. I reread The Gift of the Magi. How do I love that story!
I'm trying to wrap up a few challenges and I started Pride and Piña Coladas. So far... meh. But I'm not that far into it yet so I'm still hopeful. I've already gotten the impression that the audio might not have been the way to go with this one.

Who doesn't need a pile of chicklets?!
I've liked all of the P.J. Tracy Monkeewrench series, but my favourite so far is #7, Cold Kill (aka The Sixth Idea. Suspenseful (plausible!) threat to today's world. Great read.
My review of Cold Kill - The Sixth Sense
