I recently finished
The Pit by Peter Papathanasiou his 3rd book and an Outback noir story that falls heavily on the noir side.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Race, Politics, and Irish America: A Gothic History by Mary M Burke It is not a mystery/thriller, but a scholarly examination of how the Irish fit into American society. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Robert Bryndza's latest novel, Fear the Silence, is a standalone thriller that takes place on a remote Croation island in wild, stormy weather. English doctor Maggie is alone and terrified!
My review of Fear the Silence
The Best Bad Day Ever is a cute, simple children's book that shows how nothing looks right when we're having a bad day, until... Author/illustrator Marianna Coppo has made it clear, funny, and universal. Little kids will love it (as did I).
My review of Best Bad Day Ever with several illustrations
The Truth
is another fabulous mystery. I adore this series. My five star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It isn't marketed as a thriller, but
Blood
by acclaimed Aussie Aboriginal author Tony Birch had me so nervous I couldn't stop reading. Little kids with a slack mother who keeps some seriously bad company makes for a scary read. Just terrific!
My review of Blood
I finished two books in the Craig Gillard series by Nick Louth:The Body Beneath the Willows
my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and The Body in the Stairwell

The Fourth Durango
by Ross ThomasA friend is downsizing and she gave me a double armload of book, of which this is one. I reread The Fourth Durango after many years and it reminded me how much I love Thomas' writing. The characters and plotting are absolutely the best, with a bit of humor thrown in. This is a thriller written to a very high standard. 5 stars.
I finished the bleak noir classic
The Burglar by David Goodis
Rating: 4 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading a WWI-era spy novel that is the sequel to The Thirty-Nine Steps
Greenmantle by John Buchan
Just finished a fantasy book (Kingdom of Ash) but now I’ve dived back into crime books, starting with Elly Griffiths,The Last Remains, Dr Ruth Galloway Series
I read Framed in Fire by Iona Whishaw It is book 9 in the Lane Winslow series, but can be read as a standalone. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Lea Ypi’s Free. ‘When freedom finally arrived, it was like a dish served frozen,’ says Lea Ypi of life in post-communist Albania as she meditates in ‘Free’ on the idea’s true meaning. ‘We chewed a little, swallowed fast and remained hungry.’

I've been reading Katherine Blessan’s interesting new novel 'T for Tolerance'. 'It is a troubling hour in the United Kingdom as the clouds of a dark zeitgeist roll over the face of sun. This dystopian YA novel is set in 2040, after section 44, new laws making it illegal to ‘express a thought that could be deemed offensive to another group’, have been enacted...'

The Kate Daniels' adventures continue with the surprise release of
Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews. This is the second story in the Wilmington trilogy. Chronologically,
it follows after the main series of 10 novels and before Blood Heir.
For those who have never read the UF Kate Daniels series, a new reader could start with the Wilmington trilogy to get a taste for Kate & team.

is a well done police procedural. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Catherine Ryan Hyde fans, put this one on your calendar! A Different Kind of Gone

My only regret with All the Devils Are Here is that Louise Penny set the story in Paris instead of Canada. All the family are together, though, and all are in life-threatening danger.
My review of All the Devils Are Here
When I link the title and cover, my post won't stick. But the review link seems to work."Calypso's Guest: A Short Story" is a unique, marooned-in-space retelling of Calypso's story from Homer's classic, The Odyssey. Pulitzer Prize winner, Andrew Sean Greer, combines tenderness with the Twilight Zone.
Here is my review of Calypso's Guest
Two weeks ago I finished The Trap by Catherine Ryan Howard
It took my breath away so it took some time to write my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I enjoyed Not Dark Yet
but don’t recommend starting the series with this one. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I recently finished
The Devil's Advocate by Steve CavanaghMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Three
by Valérie PerrinIn this book we follow the lives of two boys and a girl who become inseparable friends in childhood.....and go on to have rather dramatic iives.
Author Valerie Perrin (who also wrote Fresh Water for Flowers) is an excellent storyteller. 4 stars

Rivers of London #6, probably best to at least read #1 first. Another entry in the amazing Rivers of London series, in which Peter, among other stuff, hunts the Faceless Man and Leslie reappears. Lots of stuff going on in this story. If you don't know the series; it's modern London, magic is real, and the rivers have "people" as their representatives. Aaronovitch has a great snarky style but there's a lot of English/cop slang and lots of "people" to keep track of. Still, it's fascinating and completely unique. 4 stars.
'Twas the Bite Before Christmas
by David RosenfeltIn this addition to the 'Andy Carpenter' series, the Paterson, New Jersey defense attorney represents a man in the state's witness protection program.
These cozy mysteries are formulaic but they're fun. Always good for a few laughs. 3.5 stars

Now starting BAD NEWS TRAVELS by James Swain, the third novel in his thriller series featuring ex-cop, ex-Navy SEAL Jon Lancaster and FBI agent Beth Daniels.I really enjoyed the first two novels in the series and I hope the author is planning on writing more of them in the future.
The Returned: A gripping Irish crime thriller by Amanda Cassidy ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I recently finished
Outback by Patricia Wolf a thriller set in the outback (of course) of Queensland. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
