Same here. I can focus on a novel while my husband watches the Patriots or Red Sox (I could care less about sports).

There was a movie with Kelly McGillis of the same title. I wonder if it was based on this novel?

I've just googled it and no, apparently the one you're mentioning is based on the novel by John Ehle. The book I'm currently reading is from Jennifer McMahon!

You’re so lucky to have visited the Corfe Castle. Hoping to travel to Dorset one of these days!

Lucas Davenport #32. This is another entertaining high-testosterone adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed, and it has Virgil along for more fun. 4 stars.

James Best (jamesbest) | 299 comments Now reading THE CONFESSIONS OF OWEN KEANE (2005) by Terence Faherty. This is a collection of short stories and a novella featuring the former seminary student and amateur sleuth who has appeared in seven previous books, starting back in 1991 with the Edgar Award nominated DEADSTICK.

It took me a while to track down this book, as it had a limited print run with each copy signed by the author. I finally decided to pick one up as a belated Christmas gift to myself.

Mea culpa...I didn't pay attention to the author and automatically assumed it was Agatha Christie.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9970 comments The Passenger The Passenger (The Passenger, #1) by Cormac McCarthy by Cormac McCarthy

After a salvage diver investigates a mysterious drowned plane, the government goes after him. This seeming mystery is really a literary novel where Cormac McCarthy airs his views about science, math, and other things.

Interesting unusual novel. 4 stars

I'm happy you like it so much. I have both of his new ones, The Passenger and Stella Maris, but I'm going to hold off until I have a straight block of time to read both at the same time.

Now nearly finished with Bodies in a Bookshop by R.T. Campbell, which is also good fun. If Nero Wolfe was Scottish, sociable and loquacious, he'd be like Professor John Stubbs. I'd like to see them in a beer swilling match.
