I am so incredibly fascinated with how and why seemingly intelligent people tend to turn over their brains and common sense once in a cult.

PattyMacDotComma | 920 comments Gabriel García Márquez's work is always unusual and intriguing. His short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings is as thought-provoking as the title suggests. Worth a read. (He didn't win the Nobel Prize for nothing!)

PattyMacDotComma | 920 comments Aussie author Garry Disher can make even a bad guy (and Wyatt IS a bad guy) a compelling protagonist. Paydirt is #2 in the series but would be a good read on its own. Clever plot and dodgy characters.

Damo | 161 comments The Witchfinder (Amos Walker, #12) by Loren D. Estleman The 12th book in the hard-boiled Amos Walker PI series. I thought this was one of the stronger books in the series to date, still brimming with witty one-liners but strengthened by some quality sleuthing.
