Here is my 3.78 rounded to 4 stars review of The Bone Riddle
by Sara E. Johnson:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Forensics Mystery, Police Procedural
Phenomenal world-building and diverse characterization blended with a well-written narrative making this a novel that I advanced through effortlessly. The storyline is compelling in this unsettling thriller that has some alarming moments. The author did a great job of building suspense throughout the story and weaving the threads together.
Flop Dead Gorgeous: my Flop Dead Gorgeous review
The Girls on Chalk Hill: my Girls on Chalk Hill review
The Rush, by Aussie author Michelle Prak, is a scary outback, backpacker thriller! Storm, blackout, body lying at the side of the road in torrential downpour ... do you stop or get the heck out of there?
4★ My review of The Rush
I have just finished Ghost Girl, Banana Ghost Girl, Banana

Gripping police procedural and crime thriller
Book 8 in the Detective Amanda Steele series
Currently reading "To A God Unknown" by John Steinbeck - an interesting family story about life on a farm - really enjoying it so far
I love seeing little kids dress up and pretend. Princess Kevin by Michaël Escoffier is a cute story about a little boy going to fancy dress day at school. Go, Kevin!
5★ My review of Princess Kevin with several of the illustrations
The Voice to Parliament Handbook: All the Detail You Need
by Aussie authors Thomas Mayo and Kerry O'Brien is an excellent, easy-to-read summary of Aboriginal and colonial history as well as a discussion about the upcoming Constitutional referendum.Absolutely wonderful! If you're an Aussie, don't miss it.
5★ Notes from me about The Voice to Parliament Handbook with some excerpts
Here is my 4.54 rounded up to 5 stars review of Dead Man's Wake
by Paul Doiron:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Here is my 4.12 rounded to 4 stars review of The Last Sinner
by Lisa Jackson:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Crime Thriller / Police Procedural
The book has an intensity that hooked me with a good plot and strong characters. The author also does a great job of incorporating real-world issues into the story that add depth. The author did a great job of building suspense throughout the story, providing action, and giving readers a lot to contemplate as they try to solve the crimes.
Here and Queer: A Queer Girl's Guide to Life by Rowan Ellis is exactly what it says it is, BUT, it doesn't indicate how vibrant and detailed and caring it is. This should be readily available in all schools and community libraries for those young girls everywhere who feel so unsure.
5★ My review of Here and Queer... with several of the colourful illustrations.
Here is my 4.12 rounded to 4 stars review of Try Not to Breathe
by David Bell:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The author brings suspense, action, and intense moments to this fast-paced novel that is full of a sense of urgency and prose that flows well. It’s thought-provoking as family relationships, aging parents, friendships, bullying, crimes, and more are explored.
It's a wild ride on the coattails of ghosts and ghouls, swept along by Sri Lankan winds, in The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, by 2022 Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka. More than half of my review is quotes, so there's more of his writing than mine. 😊
5★ My review of The Seven Moons...
I have just finished
Cold Comfort Farm which took me a while to get into but then I enjoyed it.Now I am starting
The Dissident
Being basic and reading The Seven Husbands… But just finished a slow burn spooky book Gallows Hill that was so fun and had my heart racing half the book.
Also just started Remarkably Bright Creatures.. so far so cute.
Here is my 4.31 rounded to 4 stars review of The Shark
by Mary Burton:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This appears to be a re-release.
Crime Thriller/Police Procedural
The author is a great storyteller with gripping scenes and a disturbing story that depicts the devastating risks to runaways and the effects of human trafficking on them. The plot moves at a fast pace with some twists and turns. However, the antagonist was a little too predictable.
Michael Trant brings rural and outback Western Australia to life again with his latest thriller No Trace. Terrific audio - loved it!(
My review of No TraceThe audio edition hasn't been added to Goodreads yet, but it's out there.
For a few minutes of thought-provoking fun, have a (free) read of Andy Weir's couple of pages about 'Life" and the meaning thereof. I really enjoyed The Egg and added a link to where you can read it.
My review of The Egg
I finally finished Cursed. It was darker than I expected it to be and was pretty bleak for a while.
- my Cursed review
I am planning to finish If We're Being Honest today and have started Sold on a Monday for my face-to-face book club. I started this one once before and it was a DNF for me. I think I was expecting one story and got another. I'm hoping that I enjoy it more this time now that I know better what to expect.
Here is my 4 star review of Best Served Cold
by David P. Wagner:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, I enjoyed this engaging, fun, and entertaining mystery full of ambience.
Here is my 4.28 rounded to 4 stars review of The Confidante: The Untold Story of the Woman Who Helped Win WWII and Shape Modern America
by Christopher C. Gorham:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Biography
Overall, this biography is intriguing and thought-provoking. The author has delivered a fascinating book about an important and amazing person history has overlooked.
Re-reading the
Game of Thrones
series by Geroge R.R. Martin for the 3rd. time. Presently reading the 3rd book:
A Storm of Swords
. The 5th. book of the series was published in 2011. It is doubtful that Mr. Martin will publish the final 2 books as originally planned. The TV version of the series created its own final two installments.
Here is my 4.45 rounded to 4 stars review of Break of Day
by Colleen Coble:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Romantic Suspense
Christian Fiction
Third book in the trilogy
Overall, I loved the tension and the intensity of the story. It was engaging, atmospheric, and suspenseful with some chilling scenes. It did a great job of keeping me hooked and having compassion for the characters through their struggles.
Here is my 3.91 rounded to 4 stars review of Implacable
by Jack Campbell:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Science Fiction Thriller
The plot is twisty with harrowing scenes, plenty of layers, thought-provoking instances, and a larger-than-life protagonist. The multiple conflicts and the diplomatic challenges move the story forward rapidly. Overall, this is a tense and exciting science fiction thriller that kept me on an emotional rollercoaster.
Barren Grounds by AA B. Michael Radburn was a good read but didn't grab me as much as his other books, only because I didn't believe the ending, BUT I reckon it could be made into a terrific film or TV series. It has all the right elements.
My review of Barren Grounds
