SOLVED!! This is a post-apocalyptic world where all but few cities are covered by a mysterious fog. A man is searching for his brother. He has OCD that cause him some issues in his progress but he befriends a cop?. His OCD skills come in handy for helping the companion so he in turn starts helping him look for his brother. That's about all I remember... Any ideas or leads?

I found it through Reddit Book Names. It turns out I remembered the cop part wrong. The novel is Refraction by Naomi Hughes.
