I'm liking this one sided enemies to lovers thing they have going on. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ That snake bite was intense, at first I thought she was having an allergic reaction to the willow bark tea. I like how caring Simon became and how he was calling her sweetheart. Up until that point I was not feeling them, but now I am. Then the gift, I love how she's coming around to him. (hide spoiler)]

I was not expecting such a quick wedding and also easy resolution. He left them immediately came back and proposed. I thought there would be some angst where he was still denying his real feelings but this was a nice change.

The honeymoon was nice but I'm glad to be back with the girls. Lmao at Lilian being like I'm going to find a way to make it always fast, who has time for that. She's totally going to end up with Lord Westlake, I hope that's the next book. (hide spoiler)]

I was already side eyeing it after the snake bite drama, but then the stabbing and the fire, neither of those were necessary (though the stabbing was very satisfying). If it had ended there I would left it alone but then we had to go have a huge disaster where they both almost die? Like come on. I ended up eyerolling so hard I couldn't enjoy the romantic payoff. I am excited for the next book, though I loved Westcliff and Lilian's dynamic here and can't wait for more of it. Hopefully we lose the ridiculous overdramatic stuff in that one. (hide spoiler)]

I'm enjoying this so far. I like Annabelle's character and the friendship with the four ladies is nice. I will say I don't like how all the men are circling Annabelle like sharks, waiting for her to be poor enough so they can make her their mistress.
