Lillian (lilliannedeau) | 26 comments Hi, Katherine, I looked over your to read list and found three books I loved reading. I chose The White Queen (The Cousins' War, #1) by Philippa Gregory The Red Queen (The Cousins' War, #2) by Philippa Gregory The Lady of the Rivers (The Cousins' War, #3) by Philippa Gregory
I hope you enjoy these reads. I am anxious to find out which books you choose for me from my to read list. I always agonize over what to read next.

Hello Lillian!! Here are my picks for you!!

1. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng - Without a doubt, the best family drama I've read in a while. Brutally told and gorgeously written.

2. Still Alice by Lisa Genova - A difficult read, but at the same time so compelling that you simply can't help but be drawn to the story.

3. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - Since the first two books are kind of depressing in nature, I thought you might like something light and fluffy. This is the only Rainbow Rowell book I haven't read, but I heard it's super adorable!!

Happy reading and thank you for my wonderful picks!! I love historical fiction, so I have no doubt I'll love them!!

message 28: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (klonk) | 39 comments Stacie, these are my picks for you:

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.
2. Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
3. Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim.

The first two books are two of my all-time favorites, so I hope you'll enjoy them, and the third one just caught my eye in your to-read list. Lovely title, good ratings, beautiful cover - and what seems to be an intriguing story. I hope you'll enjoy your reads!

message 29: by Elizabeth☮ (new)

Elizabeth☮ Kelly,

Here are my picks for you. All three of these books are books I took a while to read and when I finally did, I kept asking myself, "What took you so long?"

1. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver The Poisonwood Bible - such a good book. I can still remember the characters a year later.

2. Sex on the Moon The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History by Ben Mezrich Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History - I live down the street from NASA, so this held special interest for me. Quite an intriguing tale of love.

3. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood The Handmaid's Tale - Why? Why did it take me years to read this book? You will be hooked in immediately.

Happy reading!

My selections for you:
1. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
2. Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
3. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
The Red Tent is one of my all time favorites. Tell the Wolves I'm Home and Me Before You were wonderful books. I hope you like them all as much as I did!

message 32: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (klonk) | 39 comments Stacie, thank you for your first two picks. :) I look forward to reading them! It seems as something is wrong with the third choice though, as I've already read "Me Before You" and I don't think it's in my to-read list anymore. Would you mind picking a different book as your third choice for me? Thank you!

message 33: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat Hi Karin,

I'm still going through your TBR shelf and adding some more books to mine. LOL.

Here are my picks for you:
Oryx and Crake (MaddAddam, #1) by Margaret Atwood

Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
I hope this one is okay!

Figured it out, it was After You which I guess is a sequel to Me Before You. oops!!

message 36: by Allie (new)

Allie | 16 comments Bettina, it was a tough choice - such a fantastic selection of books! - but here are the three I have chosen for you:-

Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier This is set in the part of the UK where I live. The Jamaica Inn is real, and still attracting visitors today!

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin I read this at the end of last year and it is one of the most amazing books I have ever read...believe the hype!

Life After Life by Kate Atkinson Some people loved this, some hated it on account of it being non-linear. I am of the former opinion, see what you think!

Allie x

Kelly | 35 comments Elizabeth wrote: "Kelly,

1. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood:
Dystopian novels seem to be popular on the 1001 books to read list (of which this is one). This particular book was selected for me for a quarterly challenge, and I am glad that it was. It gives me hope that not all dystopian novels are a slog to read. While the topic is certainly not pleasant (women have completely lost their rights and are being used as breeders for childless couples in a weird scripted menage a trois), it is so well written, it is enjoyable to read. I will definitely be working my way through the Margaret Atwood section of the 1001 books to read after this. Pictures made of words, depth of feelings, differing and surprising perspectives. Really enjoyed it!

message 42: by Tawallah (new)

Tawallah Hi Kme_17, your picks are:

Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu - I enjoyed this ya book, plus it's already on your dystopian list for 2015

The Prayer Box by Lisa Wingate - haven't read yet but I have seen good reviews

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - this has been on your bookshelf for a long time and you can finally see what the hype is all about.

message 44: by Allison (new)

Allison | 13 comments Hi Poongothai. Which shelf would you like me to choose from? Please use my "to read" shelf. Thanks!

message 45: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 35 comments Ok Elizabeth, here are your choices (and I totally understand trying to restrict access!)
You have a fascinating TBR list! I have put two of these on my list. :)
1) The Woman Who Wasn't There: The True Story of an Incredible Deception
This looks fascinating... I added it to my list!
2) Tisha: The Wonderful True Love Story of a Young Teacher in the Alaskan Wilderness
I have always wanted to go to Alaska...
3) Wilde in America: Oscar Wilde and the Invention of Modern Celebrity
I am fascinated by Oscar Wilde. I have added this to my list, too!

I hope you enjoy!
