Q&A: Game Board Spaces - Book Tasks
Ashley, when we land on a property, does everyone on the team have to read a book before we move on? Or do we take turns and just read one book per property?
Only one book is required per property, you can choose who reads, or use a banked book that hasn't been deposited yet. Whatever works for your team.

As far as paying for a property purchase or paying rent, can we only use books from our banked book list or currently reading, not from our deposited books? Are those deposited books no longer available to us to use for tasks?
I hope this makes sense.
Yes. As a team you may read and bank as many books as you want. You can store these on your Team Tracking banked books tab and/or Game Board Tasks tab. You can read more than 10 at a time.
When you pass GO, you choose what 10 books from your Team SS banked books that you'd like to deposit as your salary. Once those books have been deposited on the Game Board SS, under the Banked Books tab, they are frozen and CANNOT be used again.
If you land on a space and want to purchase a property or need to pay rent, the book you use to do this should be added to the Game Board SS, under the Game Board Books tab. This book is now frozen and CANNOT be used again.
Any books that the team reads are free to be moved or used until deposited or used as payment. You can use the "posted" check mark on your tracking sheet to show that those books are now out of play.
Does that help?

Also, I will be making a Thread for each game board, so that Captains can communicate about the moves they make, and so that Teams know if it's their turn!

Thanks! That helps a lot.

Another question - books started after 1/1/23 or finished after 1/1/23??

(new)

SO, we can start reading books now??? or use our current reads as long as they are finished after 1.1??
You can, but use some fair judgment! If you started a 3000-page book in June, please don't use that. If you started something today or after, that's fine.
It's mostly to give the first team a book or two to work with on the first roll!

got it--

If more than one player reads for a space, do we get anything extra?
We have a lot of players for only one book needed for space, so I want to make sure I'm not missing something other than the extra banked books

Hey Ashley. I rolled for Team Cannon a few minutes ago. We will purchase the property but I can't deduct it from our Bank.
I get this error message:
"There was a problem.
You are trying to edit a protected cell or object. Please contact the spreadsheet owner to remove protection if you need to edit."
Also, are the other teams waiting on us to complete our book before they can roll?

That is up to your Team, I'm not requiring it, but it you want to do that as a team, that's fine!

Hmm, try it again when you get a chance, I didn't set any protections and I just went and manually made that cell editable for everyone. If it still doesn't work let me know and I'll have to try something else.
Yes, teams are waiting on turn completion before their roll :)

Yes, teams are waiting on turn completion before their roll :)

Before the next team can roll, the team before has to complete their task first?

Use the edition you read, if it's an audiobook, use the default edition (the one that comes up if you search on GR).

I had the same message Shan. I kept going through. I think I hit the advanced button. Fingers crossed the dice roll site is safe.

Me too, but I revoked access until it's my turn to roll again.
Now we're working out what to do, so the next team can roll.

I'm also having this issue. Also, Ashley will when you look can you please let me know if I update everything on the SS correctly?

You're welcome! I'm glad we could help each other

So does that mean that we don't have to read anything? Also, how do I go about getting money from each team?
Ashley, what did you intend for the "Posted" checklist to be used for? When it's posted in the thread as a completion? Or when we use the book? Just wanted to be on the same page. Thanks!
Sorry everyone, I got a migraine yesterday and had to go to bed. I'll be catching up on everything today as I can.
As far as the dice roll, if you are uncomfortable or having any glitchy issues, you can always use a dice roll site to get your roll, just use 1 die (not 2).
Jackie, you can just manually deduct $10 from each account, and then deposit $30 in yours. Make sure it's posted on the turns that, so each team knows. No reading is required for that turn.
Posted is just to let everyone know that the book was moved to the gameboard SS and can't be moved, but you can use it or not use it. Your choice.

For the moment, I've updated everyone's bank accounts, please double check me in case I missed a transaction!
Also, I hope I fixed the problem, so try again to edit that cell and let me know. I may have to ask another person to look at it.

I can not edit that cell. Thank you!!
Hopefully Team Cannon will complete a book today so the next team and roll.
