Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Awesome! I liked the three Impossible Times books. I have another of his series on my list but they never seem to be available.

Roz | 4526 comments Haven't heard from you in a while. Probably my fault. I've been distracted. I added another series to my long list: Andy Carpenter by David Rosenfelt. Entertaining, and I like the court scenes the best. I've read #25 and #1 in the series.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I have been reading and crocheting and workinge and that is about it. My yard is a jungle of weeds and I just don’t want to go outside and start working. Every time I am on the verge of putting my boots on, it starts to rain and I go sit down again.

I am writing to you here because I finally got the 1st Cork O book, Iron Lake, and finished listening to it yesterday. #2 is on hold but #7, Thunder Bay was available, so I am listening to it now. There are references to things that happened in previous books but I don’t feel too bad about reading out of order.

I really enjoyed the 3rd Mistress of Rome book. The 4th is on hold. I hope it is as good!

I am trying to get back to the monthly challenge book. It is ok but I am not sure if I will finish it in time.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished Thunder Bay and I am listening to #4, Blood Hollow, now.

I got some yard work done today and even convinced my granddaughter to help some. She is ok in the doing (as long as it is what she wants to do) but in the clean up department, not so much. At least she put the string trimmer and the extension cord away when I told her that she could be done. It was all I could do to unlace my boots and take them off after I cleaned up my area and put the tools away.

Roz | 4526 comments I've been spending the past hour looking for a book I want to read. The next Cork O book isn't available through my library or libby and the state site I use is down, so I can't get Mercy Falls right now. I've been going though my tbr book by book and getting frustrated. Then I remembered good old Commissario Brunetti. The next in series (for me) is available (yay!) so I'm going off to read Quietly in Their Sleep.

message 56: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Quietly is ok, not as good for me as others.
I hate having to spend hours trying to find something to listen to!
I finished listening to Blood Hollow and have Copper River up next on the Cork O front. I really like the narrator!.

I picked up The River We Remember on PLAYAWAY from the library this evening.
I think I will listen to it first, while I crochet.

message 57: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I read The River We Remember last month. Really liked it.

message 58: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments My local library has been very helpful in getting Mercy Falls. I was able to access the interlibrary loan service and asked if they could get me an ebook version (there wasn't one attached to my library on Libby). In the end my library was able to make one available that I could borrow. So happy.

Roz | 4526 comments I've finished reading Mercy Falls and Copper River. The next one in the Cork O'Connor series is Thunder Bay. I'll have to take a break in reading the series so I can finish a book I already have out.

message 60: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading Thunder Bay. I so enjoy this series. The way the author describes the land, the references to Native American customs and life pull me into the story. This last one was one of my favorites so far. I'm taking a break (a short one) to read something else, but I'll be back to them soon.

message 61: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I read the latest book in the Marlow Murder Club series. The Queen of Poisons. I consider it finished. It was a short series (for me), only 3 books. I'd give it 3 ⭐. I liked the characters, 3 old(er) women who get together and help the police solve murders in their town.

Janice (jamasc) | 59875 comments I bought the first book a couple years back for a challenge, and haven't managed to read it yet. LOL!

message 63: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments How can I not like reading about independent minded older women one of whom enjoys a daily swim (naked) in the Thames? It’s a no-brainer.

That sounds - risky? LOL! I like reading about feisty older women.

Roz | 4526 comments I'm back to reading some of the series books I started and had to put aside when other books I wanted to read became available (for challenges or just because they were calling me). I've gone back to reading Quietly in Their Sleep and then I'll move on to A Noble Radiance. I'm also half way through Red Knife.

message 66: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I’ve finished reading Red Knife and enjoyed it. I haven’t found one yet that I didn’t enjoy. I’ll be moving on to the next in the series soon. I also finished Quietly in Their Sleep. Not a favorite one, but that’s okay. I’ve already started reading the next in the series.

message 67: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading Heaven's Keep. I think this is the best one so far. The crime/mystery is a vehicle for showing Cork as a man whose family comes first in his life. I hoped for a different ending, of course. I'm giving it 5 ⭐s, giant ones.

message 68: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I’ve been moving through the Cork O’Connor series. Finished reading Trickster's Point (#12) and requested the next 2 from my library.

message 69: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I've finished reading Tamarack County and Windigo Island and requested the next in the Cork O'Connor series. Just zooming through them.

message 70: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I've finished reading Sulfur Springs and Desolation Mountain. Three more to go to kill the series.

message 71: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I've finished 19 of the 20 books in the Cork O'Connor series and now I'm just waiting for the last one to become available. I've enjoyed all of them.

message 72: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments Completed another series today.
Cork O'Connor series is officially killed! Wonderful series featuring Native Americans. Loved it!

message 73: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Awesome! I actually finished the series but I never posted much. I really enjoy Cork and his family. I enjoyed the Native American lore from that part of the country.

I have been listening to the Leaphorn and Chee series by Tony Hillerman over the last three months. They are very different but great stories!

message 74: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments Well, I didn't finish as much as I had planned this year, but I read a lot of good books, so I'm not so sad. I also added some series to my very long list. I suppose I should do a purge to eliminate series that I probably won't continue. Either that, or send a note out to all authors to stop writing so many series that sound interesting, sucking me in to add and start.
In the next few days, I'll make a working list for 2025.

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading First Degree today. The MC is a very rich wise-cracking lawyer with a dog and a girlfriend. I start off enjoying the humor but sometimes at some point, it becomes old. Other than that, I really like the way the court scenes unfold. I'm going to have to continue this one.

message 77: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I picked up and read Mischief in Mudbug (#2 in the Ghost-in-law series) for the Yearlong Challenge. I had read the first book a while ago. A cozy mystery series that makes me laugh at times. I'll continue. It's only 6 books long.

message 78: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59875 comments I read that one as well. I've been working away on her Miss Fortune series.

message 79: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I haven't read any of the Miss Fortune series, but I saw that all but the last 2 are currently available through Libby so I may try them soon.

message 80: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59875 comments They are quite funny, which I love.

message 81: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading Showdown in Mudbug. If Helena is really gone to the other side, I'm going to miss her. But there are 3 more in the series so I'm thinking she may show up again.

message 82: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59875 comments I've only read the first two books in the series. It's likely she, or another ghost will keep the series going.

message 83: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading Louisiana Longshot. Very funny. I'll be plowing through this series.

message 84: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4526 comments I finished reading the last of the Ghost-in-Law series. Helena has left Mudbug (I won't tell how). One series killed this year.

message 85: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59875 comments Oooh, that's intriguing.
