I did not like Rogers at all thinking he used his uniform as a shield to break the law and be a bully. I did not think he was working with King just that the power the badge and Uniform wield is strong and he has to the type of personality to abuse that power.

Unfortunately for Bree - all of her deputies are sort of suspect until she knows more about them. Rogers actions certainly make it seem like he was one of Kings 'followers'. Bree herself isn't really sure who she can trust except for Todd and Matt.

Like Matt, I questioned whether Jim Rogers had been following the old sheriff's orders when he shot Matt and Brody. Or he could have been set up by the sheriff who sent Matt and Brody into an ambush. The more we saw of Rogers in this book, the more I believed he couldn't take the pressure of tracking down someone who may shoot back...or possibly shooting the wrong person. That, of course, could be a result of shooting Matt and Brody accidentally.

Rogers did not come across as a particularly good cop even before this revelation, and afterward, I was wary of him. He did not seem very trustworthy and I feared he would turn on Bree at some point.

That shooting was always in the back of my mind and his rough handling of Alyssa was deeply troubling. I was certain he’d be going by the wayside.
