Titles can't be used for the Uno cards, so Inspector doesn't work for a 5. I wish it did!

The mini-challenge doesn't start until 2/14. Books can be started at anytime since Uno began, but they can't be finished until the countdown reaches zero. The countdown can be found on page 1, post #5, but I'll also link it here.

Kayt (kaytm) | 135 comments Ok I miss understood the mini challenge, sorry about that. Thank you for the clarification. For some reason I had it in my head that it had to be finished by the 14th :) I am planning on reading the second book, just ordered it, but it is is about 200+ more pages. We will see how much it grabs me when I start. It might be a mini challenge yet.

Also I am getting ready to start Nevada So this could cover a 5 :).

#7 - a book with Dawn in the title Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12) by Rachel Caine
#27 - a book with Twilight in the title Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

I'll pick up one of them as soon as I'm done with my current book, but the other task can be grabbed by someone else if someone has a book. I'll choose something else then.

Since you've probably planned a dragon book already, LaurLa, that task is yours. :-)
(If you aren't going to read because of a plan change, give me a shout and I'll read for it.)

Would you mind posting your covers for those, pretty please? You have no idea how many orange and teal covers (orange especially!) we've looked at in the captain's group that aren't right, so I get nervous! :)

Laura | 2892 comments Does anyone want the Bird on cover task? I've got one I can read for Turf Wars that works, so I'm planning my next few days reading.

Same thing for the fire on cover task.

If no one finds something with a character flying, I can delve into my sci-fi stash and find plenty of spaceships. And aliens, for that matter.

The Becoming also works for Blue letters on the cover. Or White letters. And trees on the cover, maybe? And 4 in page count. Would the Waterfall work for body of water on cover?

I've only read the first in that series, but mightn't it also work for the soldier/warrior task?

Orange options I'm considering:

The Tailor of Panama by John le Carré , The Rose and the Yew Tree by Mary Westmacott and The Wolf Den (Wolf Den Trilogy, #1) by Elodie Harper

Priority teal books (though I have a LOT more):

The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie and Unnatural Causes by Richard Shepherd

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1019 comments Does anyone know what The Wolf Den (Wolf Den Trilogy, #1) by Elodie Harper was supposed to be a retelling of? Because as far as I could tell it was just historical fiction. There's no fantasy or mythology element to this either. It's purely a story about women forced into prostitution and what happens to them and the choices they make set in Pompeii (and no, no volcano action either, lol).

It wasn't bad, just not at all what I was expecting, although I didn't think the author managed to tell the story in a way that made me feel much for the characters. didn't hate them, just didn't get much of an emotional impact.
