That cover looks to me like she is on the water. I'm thinking we can make that work for a cephalopod characteristic?

Huh. Totally missed that one. Mostly because I was thinking about the story and the people in the story and it has naught at all to do with water or being near the water. But don't tell anyone that cause it is definitely water on the cover!

message 805: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Funny though how sometimes the cover has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the story!

message 810: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 130 comments I have a quick question and know I’ve seen it somewhere but can’t find it now. What is the page calculation for a book that is only an audio, no written book available. I know there’s a formula but it there and that the nook has to be at least 3 hours to count. Just wondering if anyone could refresh my memory?

message 811: by Eldarwen (last edited Mar 22, 2023 08:17AM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Yes, exactly. If you don't have a page count, then it is at least 3 hours of audio to make sure the book is over the required 100 pages. Verified word count over 25k words works as well. (eta: *though this of course won't work for an audio only)

This is from the rules:

5. Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive)

message 812: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Jodi, you might be thinking of Turf Wars, where we can use a formula for an audio only book in order to use it. For Uno we just need to see that it’s at least 3 hours.

Ditto!

Because I am a little OCD with this stuff, I have different sections for each of the challenge groups I'm in, and each different challenge in those groups has a different topic, with the rules and a link to the challenge in each thread.

Sooooooo useful! lol.

This is what I do too, Sammy. Private group, Folder for each challenge group, new topic for each year and then each challenge is a new post in the topic with a link to the challenge and my actual post in the actual challenge. I track in my private group and copy/paste into the challenge post.

message 821: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 130 comments If book is available only in audio format where there are no page count numbers to base the raw sum on, use the following formula to determine your page count: Audio listening time in minutes divided by 1.75. Disregard any decimal point (always round down to nearest whole number)

Is this formula ok to find a book that has audio and no page count?

message 822: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments That’s the formula for Turf Wars, I believe. We just need to see an entry on Audible showing that the audio is at least 3 hours.

With the new page, you can't seem to enlarge properly anymore, but I don't think there are knives on there, just lots of pens. But roses on cover, and they have thorns, so there might be a connection there.

1st and 3rd green, yes. Are you planning on reading both? Or just the first one?
The middle one, I'm iffy on.

I'm also iffy about the 7 yellow. It seems a lot goldish with hints of yellow deviations but not outright yellow?

The other yellow works.

The red would work.

I'll put you down for 1 Green, 8 Yellow and 8 Red for now :-)
Unless your reading plans don't account for all three of them - give me a shout! :-)
