They're both yours :-)

If the books aren't set in those places from beginning to end, please remember that at least 50% of the book needs to take place there.

And week from wed I am on vacation.

I don't think enough of the book is set in Australia to count (>50% is needed) but then, I've only ever watched the movie and it's been a loooong time hehe. I'm sure there will be A LOT of fodder though to get creative with this one, and I remember the story being good, though again, long time so not much of it is left in my head. So we shall see once you're done with it :-)

Enjooooooy, both the book and the vacation!

message 715: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments But don't worry, all of you who want to read for the very popular Australia slot hehe, I'll leave my Australia book in the slot as a place-holder to show how the mini works, but I'll leave the task to you guys and will grab something else. I have a few ideas floating around in my head :-)

I do believe there are at least two Australia slots! ;)

Peron's Tree Frog and Flower spiders :)

message 718: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That may be, I haven't read in detail and not listed locations yet :-)
But you have one coming up as well. Besides, I'll have plenty to read with my colour cards for the time being, I'll have to see how much space I'll have left. All depends on how quickly they'll both go!

I'm vague on how Wild Draw 4s work but this one could duplicate an 8 Green or 3 Green? If you haven't already slotted it somewhere.

message 723: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Wild Draw 4s can duplicate any of the colour cards we have in our current hands. So, thanks for pointing out that very obvious cover colour that I totally did not even notice, because, yes! That will work for either one of those and I'll redistribute the card :-)

I'll get back to you on that as soon as possible though you might not even have to since Laura has at least one blue cover up her sleeve she might read - I might really throw over board my blue card, even if it's been one I've been meaning for a while in favour of a Brett novel. Thanks a lot for the offer either way :-)

A bit disappointed with this book as I thought it would be more atmospheric/haunting along the lines of other gothic books I've read such as The Silent Companions, The Corset or The Familiars (all books I enjoyed a lot!) but it was a bit boring and plotless imo. It was an ok read.

message 731: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That's a shame, Audrey! But then, not everyone does gothic well unfortunately. I'll steer clear of this one then :-)
Also since you seem to enjoy Laura Purcell, she has a new book coming out this spring I've been told! Still need to read The Silent Companions and I have her The Shape of Darkness at home as well, which sounded really interesting.

Yes, I did really enjoy her books so far. I recommend The Silent Companions if you like horror/haunted mansions, for an enhanced experience I suggest reading it in the dark ;) I own the hardcover of The Shape of Darkness, I'm waiting to see if I can maybe use it for one of our upcoming red colour cards.

Yes, it's Scotland this weekend. It seems utterly ridiculous to be bringing booze (including whiskey) into Scotland, but as it will save us about £1000 or so, it's really a no-brainer. :D
