Book: Rosewater by Diamond MathieuRating: 4.5⭐️
This was a beautiful anthology with a lot of quotes that impacted me and very vivid imagery. I loved how tender the language was when talking about the experience of love, and the hurt could be felt through the words as well without seeming corny.
I didn’t like how long some of the poems were though and the lack of page numbers was a bother, but it was still good.
• Vengeful - V.E. Schwabhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
This duology is FANTASTIC. The cast of characters are unlike any I’ve read in a while - the type of characters that make an impression and stick with you long after you’ve finished reading. The only complaint I have is that I really wish there were more books in the series. Upon investigation, I’m only slightly heartened by the fact that Schwab hasn’t entirely dismissed the idea of a third. I won’t hold my breath, but I’ll be crossing my fingers and hoping.
I read Later by Stephen King. I've been reading him since 5th or 6th grade when I started with It and have enjoyed everything he has written.
Unbirthday by Liz BraswellWhat if Wonderland was in peril and Alice was very very late???
This is a twist on the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland. A "what if" version like the rest of A Twisted Tale series.
I enjoyed this and will probably read the rest of the series.
Challenge Completed:JULY- I Need Only One Word
“Read a book with only one word as the title.”
Wayward by Chuck Wendig
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I loved the first book; I adore this one.
Was there anything wrong with the book? Not that I could see. Okay, it’s long. Really long. But that just added to the pleasure.
The plot was engaging and original in its rendition, and it kept me hooked to the very end. Even though the book jumps around, there being several scenarios being played out, I never felt confused or irritated that the characters I mostly cared about weren’t center stage. They would be back.
And were they ever. The characters were compelling and fully finished, and I came to appreciate even those that I didn’t like. The ones that I did, all I could do was follow their journey and hope that they would make it to the end. Some did, some didn’t. But that was okay, because that’s the way it is sometime.
But who could ever forget the “very good dog,” Gumball? Not me.

Atalanta by Jennifer Saint. I read this in one day and really enjoyed it.
Atalanta by Jennifer Saint. I read this in one day and really enjoyed it.
Challenge complete. I read Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. Really interesting read. The descriptions of the world were marvelous.
CHALLENGE COMPLETE! "Triptych" by Karin Slaughter - the first Will Trent book. This book is *vastly* different from the television show - totally unexpected. However, it was an easy and enjoyable read. Since it is so different, I must continue reading to find out what the true T is ;-)
For July, I read the book Toyland by Tony Bertauski. It is the 7th book in the Claus Universe. I enjoyed it. The Claus Universe is best described as Christmas meets Science Fiction. It also has a futuristic feel to it. Each book can be stand alone, and read separately, however, sometimes there will be references to previous books. Each book focuses on one aspect of Christmas, or winter. Toyland, is about the toys. The first book, Clause, is about Santa Clause. The second book, Jack, is about Jack Frost. And so on.
I read the following to meet this month's challenge of "I Need Only One Word"-Wonderland by Jennifer Hillier -- an enjoyable psychological mystery 4 stars
- Bloodless by Preston & Child --enjoy the Pendergast series and this one did not dissappoint 4 stars
- Autoboyography by Christina Lauren -- gay romcom 3 stars
Challenge complete!I changed my mind at the last minute, picked up #3 in the Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box, Winterkill. Really enjoy this series, looking forward to the second season of the show on TV. The endings are often heart-stopping, never gets boring! My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finally finished (in July) SEVENEVES by Neal Stephenson. Great story but there was just soo much information. Also a jump into the future about halfway through I wasn’t expecting.
Challenge complete in July. Read Vintage by Susan Gloss and Icebreaker by Hannah Grace (regret that read! Way too long and too much sex.).
