WitchinglyBookish I have all 4 books I had left completed and the spread sheet updated!

Tammie | 1392 comments Woohoo…!

Reminder…if you are finished with March, you can start on April…just don’t finish until after the clock for starting runs out :)
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

Let’s try and get the colored and REV cards claimed and started first. We have many yellow…I’ve been reading yellow shorts so if you want to check those out…see my ‘read’ list.
We are fortunate to have fewer DRAW2 which puts us in the running for a top spot….will know better once everything is tallied for April :)

WitchinglyBookish Unearthed A Lost Actress, a Forbidden Book, and a Search for Life in the Shadow of the Holocaust by Meryl Frank

I have to read this early copy I have by the 11th, thoughts on it working for a yellow card? On my screen the bottom of the book is showing bluish on here, but the actual cover is all tea stain yellowish to various degrees

Hey everyone...we're all checked in and are in the middle of the pack with current totals. GREAT WORK! All cards UNO and the MINI are completed 100%.
I hope everyone is having some fun!

This final month we have yet one more hand to complete...at our current reading level, we should finish easily.

Remember the strategy around mini-time and be aware of finish timing as the mini gets closer.

message 315: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments @JaxN - Re hand 4...this is a DRAW 2 hand. I'm hoping you can identify one of your 3 books for 2 of the cards in this hand...then move one of the books to another hand.

Thanks much!

JL Roberts (jlroberts) | 216 comments Is this cover enough yellow for yellow 9? Naughty Neighbor. It looks it to me but I can keep looking if not.

message 318: by Tammie (last edited Apr 06, 2023 10:49AM) (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments I moved a few books around in order to take advantage of DRAW2 with colored cards...2 less we now need to read. Sarah this affected you...Where they Lie is now in hand 7

Thanks Mahi for taking the last yellow :)

7 color cards still available

REminder: please be sure your books are on your UNO shelf :)

Tammie | 1392 comments @Jax...I moved you book 'I Capture the Castle' to a WILD4 spot. Hopefully the version you've recorded-green, is a correct assumption on my part.

Correct. Didn't occur to me to make it a Wild 4 spot.

Thanks

I don't know why the SS does that. Your link takes you to the version you are reading though...so all good.

Melissa | 597 comments How is everyone's reading going?
I decided to dive into the second book of The Leviathan Wakes series. I was a little worried about Venus.....
It's good!
I'm also reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow which I am really enjoying.
I'll probably try to pick up a non-fiction sometime this week.

message 323: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments I've been reading quite a lot. Been a bit under the weather for last 2 weeks...a lot of people got sick during our trip and I was lucky enough to have the symptoms show up the day of our return...but I just can't kick this cough.

Of my April reads so far I can highly recommend
The Bride Test (The Kiss Quotient, #2) by Helen Hoang The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

I'm not especially enjoying my current read, but it works for most of the challenges I'm working on...

I've got Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin on my list...look forward to hearing how that one goes for you Melissa

message 324: by Jax (last edited Apr 08, 2023 07:16PM) (new)

Jax (jaxn) | 102 comments Funnily Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow just showed up for me too. Too bad we don't get anything extra for a buddy read.

@Melissa I read The Leviathan Wakes and meant to pick up the series then...forgot. Thanks for the reminder that I should put it on my TBR. If I don't write it down I don't remember.

@Tammie +1 for Firekeeper's Daughter. Was surprised how much I liked it.

My recc for the last two weeks is Magic and the Shinigami Detective. I'd say tongue in cheek detective alternate world something story.

message 325: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 597 comments Yes, Tomorrow and.... was popping up on my feed a lot! So far, so good.

@Tammie - I listened to The Bride Test while walking my dog in the afternoon. I remember some laugh-out-loud moments. I agree with you Jax, I liked The Firekeeper's Daughter much more than I had anticipated. There was a depth to it I wasn't expecting. I might re-read it some day.

Yes on Caliban's War (second of The Leviathan Wakes series) Naomi and Holden are just such a fabulous team.

I put the other two on my TBR!

Tammie | 1392 comments The April mini is here!
100 tasks...are we up for it??

1. CREATIVITY IS KEY! Tasks are pretty self-explanitory...as long as we can explain how the book qualifies, it'll work. If you aren't sure, ask here.
2. If you are currently reading a book that could also work for the mini, if you can, hold off finishing until the mini official start. We've got 100 tasks to try to finish
3. If a few of us could read a bunch of shorter books, that'll likely be what's necessary to finish.

Mini Details -> https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Tabs to our WSS will be posted within a few hours...please work on getting anything currently on our UNO Card moved to the Mini if it can work.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the suggestion. Funnily, I realized how many series I had started and then lost track of that I put together a table at the bottom of my TBR list showing the series, which book I'm on and how long it is so that when I'm looking for books for challenges I can also make progress on them.

Nice! That's a great book! I've gotta read the next one.
I bet that would work for the mini where no one uses the bathroom. Maybe in the beginning? But I don't think so.

message 335: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments description

We're half way through our final month.

Based on 'read' books we're are on pace to finish the Main UNO card.

There are 17 books on the main that are not yet claimed on the Mini. I encourage everyone to find a place to put your book if possible...be creative...this will insure our books are maximized. Note part 2 is mostly about what you see on your cover...so start there. If you need help, let's discuss here in our thread.

At our current paces, we'll fall well short of finishing the mini. I plan to read several shorter books to help make up some of the shortfall. Do what you can...but let's keep this fun!

Tammie | 1392 comments Melissa wrote: "A community can be like a neighborhood?"

I think as long as it involves a 'community' of people it should be fine...just be sure to explain it in 'community' terms vs neighborhood terms.

@ALL
You'll notice I've added a few extra details to some of the animals in Part 2-the extra tab with ideas...some of the mods have been sharing these extras and I'm just passing them along potential inspiration for 'creative' ideas.

Tammie | 1392 comments I did some spread sheet checking and came across a few UNO/Read Shelves needing to be added

@Melissa - Caliban's War
@Jo - The Sacrifice
@Jax - The Eye of the World, Twelve Against the Gods

Thanks much!

message 340: by WitchinglyBookish (new)

Awesome…I took several last night…searched Hoopla for short audio books with animal names. Still lots left ;)

message 342: by Mahi (new)

Mahi | 27 comments @Jax I moved Fahrenheit 451 to Red-lipped Batfish because we can't use Get creative twice for the firework animal

message 343: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments I just finished a marathon read and filled in quite a few spots on the mini. If you read for a book that needs one of my spots, I’m thinking I could probably move things around in some cases…just let me know.

We still have 28 claim’s available for the mini and just a couple on the main.

We're doing pretty well mopping up the mini with short books...quite a few left still if you have time.

Please put all your books on your UNO and READ shelf...it's difficult to find and check books without.

Thank you

I can use Minor Mage for that task - it would leave a spot empty in Pangolin for part 2 but that might be easier to fill?
