Tammie | 1392 comments I filled in several books to the Mini...see above. If those tasks work for something else, please do add what else they may work for...we'll continue to need to move things around to maximize our reading.

I'd like to have some dialogue on claiming books for the tasks that are for 6 or 10 points...get those 10 pt options claimed soon. If we can't get those accomplished at 10, we need to open them up for 'word in text'. Please be looking for 'word in text' especially if your book doesn't work for anything else in the Mini...and even if it does, we could move things around as Mahi has started to do :)

Question? Please ask :)

Unfortunately, my version has white letters on the cover. I think my book will have to wait until we open up for words in the text as it doesn’t fit well elsewhere, except that it has a blue cover.

Can Court of Silver Flames fit into "book featuring royalty" since you mentioned a queen and the bird prompt is taken?

Tammie | 1392 comments I think we'll continue to hold off for 'in text' 6 pts vs 10 pts at least through the coming weekend. Earmark and/or keep track of the page number and some text for options...

I'll make a space for backups at the bottom of the Mini SS so we have a place to keep track just in case we need them.

Tammie | 1392 comments @JL - I moved your Dynasty book down a couple of hands to cover our last DRAW2

I also moved Blood Bound on the Mini down to a harder task to open up metal object on cover. I had just read this myself and remembered 'karate' in the story.

message 162: by Tammie (last edited Feb 15, 2023 08:29AM) (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments For the extra task… Read a book with the name of any officially recognized animal constellations in the title (Latin names or the language you're reading the book in is accepted, plural form also counts) …little and big designations…specific animals will be allowed.
Ex. Grizzly for ‘big bear’…if in doubt, ask here.

English version of list:
Eagle, Ram, Giraffe, Crab, Hunting dogs, Big dog, Little dog, Centaur, Sea monster (whale), Chameleon, Dove, Crow, Swan, Porpoise, Swordfish, Dragon, Little horse, Crane, Sea serpent, Water snake, Lizard, Leo, Lion, Hare, Wolf, Lynx, Unicorn, Peacock, Phoenix, Scorpion, Serpent, Big bear, Little bear, Foxy

I've highlighted a few books that aren't on shelves/conflict with whats on our SS
@Deb Hummingbird shows 'currently reading' and is not on your UNO shelf...not marked as 'read'
@Jax Daisy Jones plus others (highlighted) aren't on your 'read' shelf...but on your UNO shelf...could you put 'read dates' on your books?

Oh boy…the most I’ve ever attempted was last week. I was taking advantage of 2 challenges converging. It made for an interesting Valentine’s Day … my husband was like, ‘every time I look…you’re reading a different book’. Hehe :)

Tammie | 1392 comments That ‘alien’ book was terrible. I just finished Love on the Brain…pretty good. I’m getting ready to start Watermelon Snow…this one looks interesting.

Mahi | 27 comments I haven't had good luck with books lately but I did read Sourdough which was fun and really made me want to bake bread.

Also reading How to Invent Everything: A Survival Guide for the Stranded Time Traveller right now which is really funny if a bit dense at times

message 173: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments Cancel reading Watermelon Snow right now...on another team and someone took the spot for that...switching to A Killer Collection...going to try this new cozy series out and see how it goes. I like a good cozy now and then.

Tammie | 1392 comments description

I found a couple of short books and claimed them on the mini this eve. Still 3 opportunities available.

1. Read a book featuring a snake or a turtle (shapeshifters accepted) or with a turtle or snake on the cover

2. Read a book with the word "NIGHT" or "MIDNIGHT" in the text (6 points) or title or series title (10 points) *still going for the 10pt version

3. 1 of these is available...the current claims are interchangeable, so whichever you like is fine...just need to move things around to make it work.
Read a book shelved as "Animals" (min 3 tags)
Read a book with the name of any officially recognized animal constellations in the title (Latin names or the language you're reading the book in is accepted, plural form also counts-list link on SS)
Read a book shelved "Gods" (min 3 tags)

A few options left on the MAIN as well. 5-7-8-9 x1 each

We still have over a week to go...in about 3-4 days I'm going to be asking everyone to check in and be sure what you've claimed you can do. We should finish everything based on what is claimed thus far.

Great, YES!...this is a 'childrens' book...please do a double check for word count...need to be a minimum of 25000 words. Make a note of this in the 'reason' line.

Fingers crossed it works

I found one that is erotic/dark...I really don't have time for it...found it on another team's SS...yes, I was spying :)
There Are No Saints (Sinners Duet, #1) by Sophie Lark

This is the only mini task we have remaining...we're in great shape!

Yep...what we do for our challenges...think of the horizons our minds have traveled due to some of these books! I can't believe I read a book with a purple alien MC...yep...weird.
I'm just grateful the author knew how to spell/write. That was a positive.

Yeah I really love all the new books I've been introduced to through this challenge, from hearing about them from you all (thank you for all the good recommendations!) and also just from having to search for and read books to fit certain cards. It's pushing me outside my comfort zone a little and I love it!

Also I'm not sure if this is allowed, but the new book I'm reading The Family You Make, I already added it to the mini under "a book that has DAWN or SUNRISE in the title", I'm not sure if it's allowed to be there twice (also under "shelved under Winter". Just wanted to check in and make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong!

Our books can be used on the MAIN UNO page as well as the mini if that's what you mean by being on there twice. I may have added you to the mini...I'm not sure...hopefully that answered your question.

Glad your books are going well!

message 190: by Mahi (new)

Mahi | 27 comments The Family You Make has Sunrise in the series title which still counts for 10 points I think so that’s probably the prompt you should keep

Tammie | 1392 comments ***
Good day everyone.
All of the spots on the main UNO card are now filled and with the Mini also claimed, we just need to finish our books.

If you complete a book that could work for UNO anywhere, and it's not on our SS, please add it to the bottom of 'extras'. Please list everything your book works for so we've got some flexibility. There's also a space on the MINI sheet.

If one of us needs to carry a book over to March, we can grab one of the books that fit our spot at the bottom.

Happy reading everyone...1 WEEK LEFT TO FINISH

WitchinglyBookish Caught In A Storm by Ali Marie
Heart Like A Truck by Ali Marie

Both of these are read and on the sheet, but they need the Librarians to add page numbers to them.

I should have the rest of my books finished by Friday!

Also if anyone is interested in these by the covers, avoid them at all costs! The current reviews are lies because they got free copies lol, they're horrible and not edited!

I just finished the Witches book too! Not what I was expecting but enjoyable.

Are you planning on reading the Inspector Poirot series in order or are you just one offing some Agatha Christie?

Also-I'm making slow progress on Redwall. Now that I'm walking around the house with it the kids are seeing it and remembering how much they like it and keep disappearing with it. So progressing steadily but slowly. (And you were right Mahi, I'm really enjoying it.)
