That’s the list of all the books in the same universe, but some of them are their own series.

Some standalones other than Warbreaker:
The Emperor’s Soul - a novella but it really packs a punch (this is what I read first!)
Elantris - Sanderson’s debut so it’s simpler than the rest of his books but still fun imo
Tress of the Emerald Sea - more whimsical than any of his other novels

And then there’s Mistborn (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4091...) #1-3 is it’s own trilogy, and that’s definitely where I’d recommend you read next (unless you want to read a standalone)

Finally The Stormlight Archive (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4907...) is going to be 10 books, with each 5 books being a sub-series - 4 of them are out. This series is absolutely amazing imo but it’s also a lot so you need some trust in the author (or if you already read a lot of long fantasy). It does a good job of not being bogged down with too many characters and complexity that way, the difficulty is that you are dropped into a completely new world and slowly understand things that are happening

I hope that helps!

Thanks Mahi

I loved Warbreaker…that’s where I started only to find out I’d have to wait a few years for the next

I’m ok with long..but I didn’t enjoy A Game of Thrones asan example. In my view the book had way too many characters

I’ll take your advice and start next with Mistborn but when I’ve got more time to concentrate on the book.

I’m may check out a couple of standalones in the meantime

Emma (M) | 21 comments So I’ve started reading my first book but my sleep has been terrible this week so I’ve been exhausted and keep falling asleep every time I read, lol.

I’ve also started #4 in the Mistborn series, but not sure how long that will take to get through.

It seems like we have a lot of Brandon Sanderson fans in this team 😀

I don’t know how much you’ve read through but just a heads up the the second era of Mistborn is pretty different from the first one. Still good but like how Legends of Korra was good but not completely like Avatar.

I read Malibu Rising and was ambivalent about it. But a friend read Carrie Soto and said I would like it and I LOVED it. (I was meh about Daisy Jones which I read right after). I think what made this really land with me was yes, it's in the Taylor Jenkins Reid universe but there was a lot about competition and sport and just how people are motivated.

I also loved Carrie Soto! I really loved the competition and how true Carrie Soto seemed as a character. She was imperfect and unapologetic, and also had a thoughtful side at the end.

I read Daisy Jones first, and thought it was interesting. I haven't read Malibu Rising. I really loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

WitchinglyBookish Hey Y'all! Sorry I haven't been active this week, I do travel nursing and took a contract with a facility that has absolutely no cell/internet service( Well they have a satellite service but do not allow us to use it). I have to go back for another week so I'll likely not be able tp update again until next weekend. I was able to come home today for a bit so I packed up some books so I'll hopefully have a bunch to add! Hope you all are enjoying your reading so far!

Sarah Nosseir | 8 comments Hey everyone! I just finished Regretting You by Colleen Hoover, and it was also a fantastic read if you're in the mood for a well-written romance novel with a bit of a serious undertone in regards to the main characters' struggles. I'm focusing on reading Lethal by Sandra Brown right now, which is the first of an only-two-book series, but I'm loving it so far! It's more crime and thriller than romance, so a nice change of pace for me! Happy reading to all!

COUNTDOWN to mini Start > https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

The mini has arrived!
A couple of suggestions…
1. There’s a few tasks that have the option for 10 pts vs 6 pts…let’s 1st try for the 10 pt option and also…let’s try to claim these tasks sooner than later
2. If you are currently reading a book that also works for the mini, if you can, hold off finishing until our mini start time. I know most of us are doing other challenges, so this may not be possible.
3. Please ask any questions here in our thread…captains will get answers for you.

Mini Details -> https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
There will be a tab added to our WSS soon.

message 123: by JL (new)

JL Roberts (jlroberts) | 216 comments I can hold off finishing both of mine till Monday and both can be used for mini's.

#43 Read a book with the name of any officially recognized animal constellations in the title .

And #26 Read a book with some kind of metal or a metallic object on the cover

message 124: by JL (new)

JL Roberts (jlroberts) | 216 comments Does it have to be in the title, or would it work for the subtitle for *Read a book with the name of any officially recognized animal constellations in the title ?

I’ll double check…but I believe as long as it shows up with the title when you search, it’s fine…be back in a minute as I’m sure that question was already discussed

*subtitles are fine

Just looking back at the directions, it says:

Draw 2
Use the same book for two cards in this hand (and get points for both cards)

So I think we get to have one book for two slots (in this case the 1 and the 4) and we get points for both, even though they are the same book.

We don't get points for the Draw two card though - that's why it is greyed out.

We have another one of those in hand 8.

message 130: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments I hope everyone is enjoying your books...I had a chance to take a look at our SS today and wanted to report in some detail where we currently are.

We show 33 completed cards out of 105 possible. At this pace we would finish a few cards short of all our hands; however I asked us to hold off finishing so I know there's a few out there that just need a chapter or 2 read etc. We should be fine. Realize each month will add one additional hand.

We do have 2 color cards left...a YELLOW 2 and one WILD DRAW 4 which can be a duplicate of any of our colored cards except for those already claimed (no 2Green or 1Blue)

If you haven't already, please check out the MINI...any book that is finished after the mini countdown ends can be used...and books read for the main, can also be used for the MINI...I'd like to make sure that anything already on our UNO card has a spot on the MINI if at all possible.

I know I read somewhere about a page limit for books that we read for UNO challenge. Could someone please tell me what it is? I can’t find it anywhere.

I’m not a huge reader (would like to read more, just don’t always have as much time as I’d like) but have been driving a lot for work the last couple of weeks and have quite a few trips over next few weeks so have been listening to a few audiobooks and realised that one I listened to was only 139 pages.

No worries!
The page limit is 100. With a book close to the page limit, I usually check the word count - in fact, I just did that this morning for one of my books. That can be found on the AR bookfind - mostly if it is a middle grades book, or a graphic novel. The word count is 25,000.

If you'd like, I can check the word count? Just let me know the title :)

message 134: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 1392 comments @All
There's been a question in the past about book limits too...I wanted you to know that unlike a few other challenges, you can read as many books as you want...the mods account for the fact that readers typically read more books during challenges for this one.

It all evens out as our real lives catch up to us sometimes and then there's the fact that sometimes we like to read a longer book now and then too.

About 13 hours left to the start of the mini - if you haven't already found a place for your current reads on the mini SS...please do so.

If something fits in a spot that's already taken, let's make a note of that or try and move things around to maximize

Thanks everyone!

message 142: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 597 comments I don't mind linking your books, Emma! I'll look at your read list and put them in that way.

I put the correct title in Tammie - thanks for the catch! For some reason, when I put the date in it says NA in the points category. Do you know why that might be happening?

The book was eye opening. I had wondered why I don't see so many fireflies in the summer, and why I don't splatter as many insects on a road trip in the summer. Well, there's a reason! Insects are in sharp decline - due to agricultural practices, global warming, and manicured lawns. (in a nutshell) A bit doom and gloom - but necessarily so it seems.
