*Sigh* I just love book covers.

What a great list, Vikki!! Fairy Tale was excellent, and I really loved Six of Crows. I did not read the first trilogy of the grishaverse, but I did not feel lost reading this, so good luck with it.

Good luck and happy reading

Lea (leaspot) | 3636 comments I love this list, Vikki. I have read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Six of Crows and The Reckoning and was glad I read them all. Six of Crows might have been my favorite, it was a lot of fun!

Yes, I've read all the Ruth Galloway series and am looking forward to the new one in 2023. I've had The Stranger Diaries since it was released but just haven't got round to starting it yet.

I read the Shadow & Bone trilogy last year and enjoyed it. So looking forward to the Six Of Crows duology. Both books are waiting on my shelf, they arrived a few weeks ago.

Ok, cool; yeah, I am going backwards. I just saw the duology and had to get them.

Do you mean the Ruth Galloway series? Or Brighton? I have 2 of the Brighton books but haven't read them either.... yet

1st book finished - Rabbit Hole My first book by Mark Billingham. Overall I enjoyed this book. There was 1 twist that I wasn't expecting. Interesting setting on a psychiatric ward, written in first person from the POV of one of the patients who tries to solve a murder on the ward. 4 stars from me

2nd book read Book of Night
3 stars from me. I felt a little disappointed with this book. It didn't grab my attention as much as I expected. Found it a bit hard to get into. Seems like there's meant to be a second book but I don't think I'll read it.

3rd book ticked off - Six of Crows
I read the Shadow & Bone trilogy last year and enjoyed it, so was keen to read this duology. Perhaps not quite what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading Crooked Kingdom. 5 stars from me.

4th book finished - Lemon Meringue Pie Murder
It's been a while since I've read this series but nice to delve back into it. A nice easy read and I'm happy to continue reading this series.

5th book finished - A Most English Princess: A Novel of Queen Victoria's Daughter
This one has been on my to-read list for a few years. My first historical fiction read around Queen Victoria's family. This book focuses on her eldest daughter, Princess Vicky, the Princess Royal. It was an interesting book that I enjoyed reading. I even learnt some things I wasn't aware of (or had forgotten) - after checking that they were factual.

My one complaint about this book is that it ends in 1871, 30 years before Vicky's death. I would have been interested to read about the last 30 years of her life as well as the first 30. There doesn't seem to have been any mention of a sequel and the epilogue leads me to think there were no plans for a sequel. The book was already around 500 pages so the last 30 years would have added significantly, but I still think it would have been interesting.

Buried Angels, the 8th book in the Fjallbacka series. Like the rest of the series, I enjoyed this book and liked the short chapters telling what happened in the past. I'm gradually working through this series and look forward to the next book

Oh, I like this series! But I’ve stalled, my libraries don’t have this title in their systems and I’m too cheap to buy the book. Your review has given me the incentive to put in a purchase request asap.

9th book finished
The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo

I've heard a lot about this week, a lot of great reviews, and lots of people reading it. But I wasn't really sure if it was my taste or not. I finally got round to reading it this week and it certainly lived up to the hype. Whilst I didn't entirely like the main character of Evelyn, I did find the book hard to put down. I didn't predict the twist at the end. I've already bought another book by this author (Carrie Soto Is Back)

10 books down, 2 go.

Most recent finish was The Seaside Cocktail Campervan. 4 stars, a nice easy summer read. Likeable characters. Loved the concept of the mobile catering businesses. There's a Christmas book as a follow on which I'll look forward to reading

11 books (a late update)
Finished The Stranger Diaries a month ago but forgot to update as I was away with work and had dreadful internet connection!!
I finished the Ruth Galloway series over the summer and decided to finally start this series. Whilst a different feel to Ruth Galloway, I enjoyed this book, liked the main character of Harbinder and I'll definitely be continuing with this series.

Finished today with The Reckoning.

Not my favourite of Grisham's books but I did give it 4 stars. At times it felt a little dragged out. I felt Part 2 was a bit overdone and not all necessary for the storyline. It was well written and was part of WW2 that I wasn't very familiar with. But I began to forget what the main storyline of the book was in Part 2.

I'm not up date with all his newest books but I have read some of the more recent ones. If you've liked his books the newer ones are also worth checking out

Congratulations, Vikki!!! Woot!!

Haven't read Grisham in a long time. I'm not sure if I feel compelled to read more of him. I feel like it is more of the same; but I do love his short stories.

I liked his Camino Island / Camino Storm books. I think there's a 3rd due out next summer? They felt a bit different to me.

message 42: by Lea (new)

Lea (leaspot) | 3636 comments Congratulations on finishing! I liked The Reckoning too, but I also agree that it wasn't Grisham's best. He's getting into writing series books, I heard he even wrote a sequel to The Firm which is the book that introduced me to Grisham. I think I'm going to have to read that. I also read his Camino Island series so most likely I'll pick up the 3rd one next year too! :-)
