SOLVED. Adult Sci Fi series about an assassin that is cloned to go to different planets that each have different strange effects on humans. [s]

I read this book in the 80s or possibly 90s. It's possible that it was one book covering 3 (or 4) planets. The plot of the story is an assassin is cloned for each mission to these different planets, and I think his clone even dies at the end of each mission. One planet causes humans to switch bodies if they sleep too close to each other and the assassin switches places with a woman to infiltrate the leader of the planet. I think he/she is brainwashed at one point and is under the control of the leader who nicknames her Ass, thinking it was for assistant. She realizes it's for Assassin and kills the leader as intended. The other planets were just as strange, but I cannot recall. This story has been on my mind since I was a teenager and I'd love to read it again. Would love any help, thanks a ton.

There's a series by Jack Chalker - Four Lords of the Diamond, where the main protagonist becomes one of the natives of each planet, in the last one of the series his character is known as 'Ass'.

Oh wow, you are amazing. That has got to be the series. Read the synopsis and there's a mention of body switching, and the assassin can't leave the planet which in my teenage mind was probably that the main character was as good as dead.
