Children's chapter book about stray/ abandoned cat. Read in the late 1990s, possible pale blue hardcover without jacket. I vividly remember a scene of this kitten finally finding food only to have an older stray cat take it from them.

I read this book when I was a kid - no earlier than 1997 and no later than 2001 - and all I remember about it is that it was told from the point of view of a kitten. I think the kitten was white, but I can't remember. The kitten wound up on the streets and had to learn to fend for itself, I can't remember if it had a happy ending or not. It was a children's book, but as far as publication date, it could've been anywhere from the 1960s to the mid 90s. As the title says, the only scene I vividly remember is the kitten getting a scrap of food taken away from it. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Is this a picture book? :) Like 32 pages, fully illustrated? Or an illustrated chapter book?Something like The Hungry Kitten?

"I do not believe so! I think it was a chapter book, I forgot to mention that in my original post, I apologize.
Was the kitten left behind at a holiday home? I remember one where a white kitten was left behind accidentally and had to survive the winter without her human family. She meets the local strays, one of whom has kittens under the house. I would have read it in the 80s though, and I don't remember the name...
Looking for books about white cats as I am not convinced it is Princess.Ghost Cat by Helen Rushmore

For the trackable links to some of the books mentioned above.
Any chance it was Socks, by Beverly Cleary? The (previously indoor) cat is made to live outside after the couple that owns it has a baby and is worried the cat will hurt the baby. I don't remember any specific food-stealing incidents, but there is definitely at least one altercation with a neighborhood stray/larger/more aggressive cat. I think the cat is mostly white.
