Justin (berliad) | 128 comments Chapter 6 finished with a huge reveal: Amadea is the grave-spurned princess! But why did that make her subject to poisoning with Changeling blood? And what does that have to do with Ibramo Kirazzi, not to mention the murder that has blown up poor Quill's world? That's our stage for chapters 7 and 8!

Michael | 24 comments Someone needs to put a leash on Quill. The most dangerous person is not someone who doesn't know what to do, but someone who thinks they do.

Amadea getting involved with the royal family is like taunting death.
Even if it's not for personal gain, anyone who knows who she is might not see it as such. Or if anyone finds out who she is and wants to cause trouble(or really loyal to the original line) they might just point to her and set things off.

Everything must be really tough for her. To have everyone say the family you love, you were never apart of, and not ever really knowing for sure if they are right. Interesting that the mind stuff can be undone somewhat. Just have to see the illusion for what it is, then it slips away. That she still has some gaps in her memory shows that she hasn't unlocked everything yet. Also also.... Were the assurances that she is not the real princess made out of: trying to keep a child out of a bloody succession crisis, ambition, or the truth, or the assumed truth? Either way there is now a whole long line of powerful people that like things how they are, fact or not.

I found Yinii's translating pretty entertaining. It does bring me up to one point I've been thinking. So far I've been trying to keep an open mind to the changelings. You know, the race that brought down multiple empires. You never know what propaganda can be and such(like a group from the Stormlight books), but it's not looking too good for them...

I know Amadea kind of had to trust Quill with her secret or he could of did some real damage. But damn, I'm not sure I would trust him keeping a Christmas gift secret... She needs to give him a quick political lesson on how to trust and what not to say.

Kind of surprised he doesn't have at least some training with that. It seems his family has some clout or standing. I wonder if his personality is why he's not getting too involved with the family business...(I forget if it was mentioned what that is.) Besides being 3rd to inherit too.

Justin (berliad) | 128 comments My view of Quill is somewhere between amusingly naive and cover-my-eyes exasperating. I think he might stumble into something, but I agree that he seems just as likely to get himself or someone else in a world of trouble.

Interesting point about the changelings, Michael. I still view them as demonic tricksters, but the bad actors of this story all seem to be of the civilized races... assuming the changelings haven't crossed the wall...

Michael | 24 comments Yea, I agree with you. They seem like an Armageddon type of tragedy, and I doubt they are having picnics and fun times with anyone not lucky enough to escape behind the wall.

This book has me questioning everything and I have no idea who or what to fully trust.
