Tomb Sweeping by Alexandra Chang
An interesting collection of tales based on Chinese or Chinese-American experiences. I would have enjoyed it better had I liked the endings,

Carolyn | 9840 comments It's always interesting to read one of Arthur W. Upfield's Bony novels for a snapshot of Australia's outback way of life in the 1930s.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments David Nicholls is so good at showing awkward relationships where each person of a couple blows hot and cold at different times. One Day is St Swithin's Day, when a boy and girl, later as man and woman, plan to stay in touch or meet each year through their lives.

One Day by David Nicholls My review of One Day

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I recently enjoyed the seventh adventure with Master Mercurius (now Doctor, thank you very much!) in the Netherlands, 17th century. This time, author Graham Brack has him investigating a 'locked-room' Murder In Maastricht where he is supposed to be engaged in a debate about witches. An impossible crime scene? Witches?

Carolyn | 9840 comments The Literary Undoing of Victoria Swann by Virginia Pye The Literary Undoing of Victoria Swann by Virginia Pye is a delightful tale of a woman author in late 19th century Boston known for her popular string of best selling romance novels set in exotic places until her desire to write a novel about real women throws her whole life into turmoil.

Enjoyed this middle-grade novel though it is a bit more intense than typical MG works. A lovely tale of friendship and understanding.

Not at all as expected. This could have really been worth a read had it stuck to the contents of the blurb.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Some plot holes towards the end may stretch the credibility, but Suzanne Leal's 5th novel, The Watchful Wife is an interesting and thought-provoking read.

Sarah | 1543 comments My review of Three Widows by Patricia Gibney. While this is the 12th book in a fabulous series, it could be read as a standalone. The resolution of the crimes left me scratching my head a little, but it was still a great read!
