For alt-history I'm nominating Way Station by Clifford D. Simak. I don't have one yet for one-hit wonders.

I don't think it is alt-hist, I guess it was miscategorized.

What should it be recategorized to?
I suppose I'll nominate Darwinia by Robert Charles Wilson in that case.

A general SF, with a long-lived/immortal protagonist and aliens, not to spoil more :)

I think if we miscategorised a book, we should let the person who nominated it have their nomination. Discuss??? Back with noms later

I guess because Kalin hasn't known the category, he hasn't read it and planned for an alt-hist, which it isn't. So, he is to decide whether to keep it

Agree that should be the rule.
Also, anybody should be able to take it back if they decide they would prefer something else, I think

Well in this case I was able to find something else (Darwinia) which is already on my TBR so I'm happy with that. I did want to read Way Station though, since I'm hoping to read all the novels collected in American Science Fiction: Four Classic Novels 1960-1966 (LOA #321) this coming year.

I've read three of them, excepting The High Crusade, and they are all gems.

For OHW, I'd like to submit The Vampire Tapestry by Suzy McKee Charnas. It sounds interesting.
For alt-history, my nomination is Hild by Nicola Griffith. The author's most recent short novel is really good & this one seems to be her masterpiece.
