NetGalley Books ... Just Had Approved

Adrian, I have had the same experience as you in regards to requests pending for many many months and then sliding off into the denied shelf without any notification. It’s deflating. Of even more interest to me is how you and I have gone in totally different directions this year with our reading. My output has fallen drastically. Instead of an average book taking me 5 days, it now takes me 10-14 days. Probably because I am spending much more time reading COVID and political articles instead. I am ready to get back to normal!!!!!

Ah yeah it’s very annoying alright. Some are still great. I requested from Thomas & Mercer 2 days ago and got approved today but the majority seem to be extremely slow or just not responding at all.
I’m enjoying my reading spurt Christine and will go with it as long as it lasts. I’m not forcing it so enjoying it for what it is(even though I have read a few stinkers in the last few months).
I hope you get back to your regular reading schedule soon. COVID and the stress of it can be exhausting. Books have been a great escape, although I have read two already that were set in present COVID times!

Delighted to get this one. Dugoni is one of my favourite authors. I haven’t read a back or even mediocre book by him yet.
Also the Tracy Crosswhite series is great!

Just has a message to my e-mail from Clare Mackintosh's publishers asking me if I want her new book Hostage.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the Enola Holmes book as much as I did.

I keep meaning to get to

Pay Dirt Road

- really surprised and pleased by that as I had just joined Netgalley several days ago.

New Kate Shugak! I didn’t realize she was still writing that series! I need to check it out!

I was previously declined for this book. I sent the below email to a woman at the publisher who has sent me wiodgets:
Hi
I rec’d this decline from St Martin’s Press w/o a specific explanation. I was approved by your company for the 3 previous books. My feedback ratio is 98%. As you can see from this GoodReads link, I have read and reviewed all the books in this series . https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
If you open the most recent review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
You will see that it rec’d 116 likes and several people have decided to read the series based on my review.
Can you please give me more info on why I was declined?

Thanks for this Sandy. Yeah it’s been frustrating but it’s good to know I’m not alone and funnily enough seems to have spurred on my reading habits. I seem to have at least doubled my consumption in the last few months, going from a constantly average to slow reader, maybe a book every week to ten days, to two or even three a week! Unheard of from me.
