Love when that happens. I'm not auto approved with any publishers so love it when I just get off..."

Me too, Adrian. I jumped at the chance to get it even though I'm overloaded with NG books at the moment.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Phooey, I didn't get that, and I loved the first Spindler book I read. Maybe it's requestable...

I haven't read her either Jan but have read and reviewed some of the publishers other books.

Yeah it's there for request alright. I had a look on NetGalley first before clicking the link in the email so I could see what was being offered.

Jan, I read Justice for Sara, which was a solid 4 stars if I recall. It was one of the very few books I failed to review early on in my Goodreads career. (-: I want to read this new one, so I went ahead and requested it. Thanks, Adrian, for bringing it to our attention.

I started worrying about that too, but then I figured if I was lucky enough to get a bunch of books I could give up my job and sleep and "git 'er done"

message 3221: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth | 786 comments Way to go Christine! I thought I was doing good at 17 on my shelf. I read 6 last month and 4 this month. I was down to 9 but had 8 approvals this month. All are really good books and couldnt resist.

message 3222: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments I know, Mary! So many recent good ones, including additions to favorite series. Seems spring and fall are particularly dangerous Net Galley times!!

message 3223: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth | 786 comments Lol Christine! When I got it down to 9 I told myself I was going to be good and not add any more. I actually stayed off netgalley but I always came to this thread and thought I need that book, whats one more? So I added it then each one I would say the same thing to myself and they all added up. Yes they are definitely dangerous netgalley times.

Bookish Veenita (bookishveenita) This one from Bookouture Liar by K.L. Slater

message 3225: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Mary, the really sad thing is that I NEVER cruise NG. If I see something good on the threads or my friends' reviews, I may go see if NG has it, but otherwise, I don't look around. And I still pile them up!

message 3226: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth | 786 comments Haha Christine! I always go on their and browse bookouture but I didnt this month and was good until I look at this thread.
Now I have to add Liar. I loved Blink. No! I am not going to add it. I have too many to read. Almost added it though. I am being good.

So funny, Mary. I had the same little debate with myself about that one. I resisted too!

Mary Beth | 786 comments Lol Christine!

I couldnt resist this! I requested it last night and got approved today. Each Little Lie by Tom Bale Each Little Lie by Tom Bale.

Lets see if you can resist this one Christine! You are better than me with discipline.

message 3230: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments 515 pages. Groan. I am actually going to think about it for a bit. That's a tome! I have a couple others due in June plus 2 more to be published during first week in July. And you and I have a Buddy read, Mary!!

message 3231: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth | 786 comments Haha Christine! I saw the 512 pages after I requested it. I love the shorter books too, but I havent read this author yet and hear he is really good. I have all of his books downloaded on my kindle but just didnt get around to it. I havent read a long book in awhile so looking forward to it.
Cant wsit for our buddy read. Which month do you want to read it?

What about when the publisher wants you to hold off review for two weeks prior to release...that messes up ratio as well? What do you think Janet?

message 3235: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5302 comments Mod
You can still write your review and post it as feedback to the publisher on NetGalley. Then you can post your review when asked for. Even when publishers ask to hold off until nearer publication I still tend to post otherwise I'd forget. I check to see what reviews have beeb posted on GR and take my cues from that. Amazon won't allow reviews to be posted until near or after publication date. There are no hard and fast rules and frankly I don't stress about any of it anymore. I sometimes review long after publication dates. Books sell in a steady stream and reviews help to do so. Publishers are aware that people are busy and reviewers and bloggers can have masses to read. Any form of marketing, PR etc., is better than none at all!

message 3236: by Christine (last edited May 29, 2017 05:59AM) (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments I always post my reviews right after I finish reading and no publisher has called me out yet. Most of the bloggers hold off until publication day or after as they are often parts of tours and have a set date to post.

Sakib (10080) | 36 comments Can someone please explain to me how NetGalley works? Do I really need to have a blog? I'm not a "professional reader"; I just love books, and of course I review any book I read here on Goodreads... are those reasons enough to join NetGalley?

They are indeed. You don't need a blog. I don't have one and have used NetGalley for over a year.
