I just read that one Sean. It was quite good. I got my copy from the library. I loved her first series, Rachel Knight. I asked Marcia if she was going to continue that series and she said maybe but that she is concentrating on Samantha Brinkman now.

well, I've given them a kindle e-mail....but I cannot figure out how to set my computer up for the books (I have a mac and tried to follow the directions but it didn't work) I also have an Ipad that has the readers they recommend on it....yet, I'm not sure how to request which device to send them to...I've only managed to get approved choose a book from my list, and give then the kindle email as I had mentioned. I'm just not very computer literate, and don't now how to proceed from here. I've never gotten an "approval" and don't even know how they let you know that they've approved me....does it come in an email, somewhere on their site, or just show up on my device?

Hi Christy...I had all the same problems when I started, and I don't even have a Mac or I-pad! The approvals/rejections will be emailed to you. But sometimes they don't. So check your shelf on NetGalley.
Have you added NetGalley to your safe senders list on your Kindle account at Amazon?
And Sandy is right. It is easier to start with a few read now books to build yourself up a track record. Hope this helps. If not, message me. *:D

Hi Christy. Trust me, you're not the only one. I think I was born without the "tech" gene as I mostly scrape by.
You have an amazon account, if you go into your settings there is an approved list for addresses (places you'll accept emails from). You should have kindle@netgalley.com in that list so NG can send the books to your account there.
Another option if you don't mind reading on your computer is to download the free kindle app from the app store. Then on amazon you can go to "manage your account and devices" under your account & see all the books you've purchased or that have been sent. Click on the book to choose where to send it & you can send it to your computer.
I'd try a trial run with a "read now" book & see where it shows up (on amazon or directly to your kindle). Also, netgalley has a help & contact section so they may be able to help more than I. Keep us posted to let us know how it goes, ok?

I just checked and it is added as a safe sender. How do I read the read now books? I clicked on one earlier and nothing happened. Gosh, I'm so confused I can't even remember how I found the books that I "might" be approved for at NetGalley, not the read now ones, but I've also forgotten where I found those...By the way, Thank you SO MUCH for all your help! Your spending all this time helping a stranger is overwhelming me. I've been fighting my pain all day, but it makes me feel so much better to know there are such caring people....

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Hi Christy,

I have been a member of Goodreads since 2010 and NetGalley since 2013. I had some problems at the beginning, but now I feel comfortable with both sites and Amazon.

Here is instructions to put your NetGalley Badges on Goodreads:
1) sign onto NetGalley
2)under your picture select "PROFILE" and then select "EARNED BADGES".
3) then on your 1st badge, left click to highlight everything in the coded box(will turn blue) and click on copy box.
4) Go to your profile page on Goodreads and click on EDIT PROFILE at the top of the page, beside your name.
5) Then a new page shows up, look down until you see the section called ABOUT ME.
6) then within this box, tab down a bit, and Right Click -Paste. Some coded stuff will appear.
7) Then look down to bottom of page and click on SAVE PROFILE SETTINGS.

Now if you go back into your Profile in Goodreads, and click on more...you will see your badge.

(If you have more than 1 badge to put in follow same instructions, but leave a little space between stuff in the box About Me.)

Hope this helps

Sue Leonhardt

Hi, Sue,
Well, as far as the badge goes that's the closest I've come yet....I did it three times, managing to copy the badge, but every time I pasted it, it was just words! Oh my gosh---it's just me I guess....computer jinxed and feeling pretty dumb! Was it a Mac you tried it on? Gosh....it's so close....Thanks, though. I think I've probably exhausted everyone with my stupid questions. Really--words?--I so appreciate the effort>

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Hi Christy,

I work on a desktop, an HP computer, and really don't know anything about a Mac, but these instructions should be universal.
When I go under my own NetGalley account under my profile under Badges, I click on what is in the box (words & code) as

Earned Badges
100 Book Reviews100 Book Reviews
Members earn this badge based on total number of books reviewed.
100 Book Reviews
Copy Copy and paste this code to your blog.

message 2693: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Then after I clicked on what is in the box( it will turn blue). Then right click within this box and click COPY.

Then go to your Goodreads Profile, click on EDIT Profile and new page shows up. Look down till you see ABOUT ME, and within this box go down till where you have a space and right click PASTE. It will still show as just words. You have to go to the bottom of the page and click on SAVE PROFILE SETTINGS. THen when you go back into Goodreads Profile, your badge will show under more.

Hope you understand what I wrote.

Sue

No worries, Christy. On NG, hit the "find titles" on the top bar. That will take you to a page that has "browse" on the left side. Under that heading, you'll see "read now" as an option. Hit that & you find all the books that are available to anyone who is a member. Choose a book & on it's page where the story blurb is there's a green button. Hit that , give it a few minutes & see if it shows up on your kindle. Sometimes it takes a while. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest contacting the help staff on NG. They can check & make sure everything is kosher with your membership. Don't worry, I'm sure they get the same questions all the time. Good luck & hope you're feeling better!

I don't tend to archive ongoing threads. Very easy to get to latest comments. Either hit 'newest first' at the top or on device long press bottom left or right button. There's absolutely no reason for anyone to be scrolling/wading through on any thread. Hope this helps. :)
