Honestly not a fan of clary

I get that Clary has been through a lot but she has no self preservation instinct. When in the first book when she was first returning to Luke’s through madame dortheas, not only did she just fling herself through what she knew was a five dimensional doorway (with no knowledge of how it worked) she also assumed the manacles in Luke’s wall and the weapons he has been packing just meant he was in danger (I love Luke) obviously he was fine, but those were huge red flags. Over and over again clary is impulsive and bumbling and it’s shown as charming. I do love the books, sometimes I don’t love clary.

i agree with u, i often feel like the main character is one to have a hard past and therefore is really impulsive but as u said, portrayed as charming or as what makes the character deeper - i feel like sometimes thats a tool to prevent that this certain character gets perceived as too boring as well as it's important for the plot to have an impulsive one to get the real drama and struggle out of the situation.
i often was annoyed by her as well
