Olivermagnus 1-5

Joy D 3-2
Hannah 2-5
Robin 1-4

I seriously hope this dice randomizer is truly random. I know randomness is over thousands of rolls, but I feel like SO MANY 5's, lol.

Huh, another book that I had absolutely no memory of! Luckily I recognized the cover. It's 499 pages of smallish print.

AJ, kicking it off with a bang, lol! You got a special roll:

3-1: You get to take pick someone's next move on the board. The admins will use random.org to decide who will be moved. You get to decide which book they must move to next on their game board - - backward or forward -- within a 15 book radius. So you can move your opponent up to 15 spaces back or up to 15 spaces forward to the book of your choosing. Should you be reluctant to move another player ,or if you do not respond to an administrator's request to designate the move, random.org will move the player - odd rolls will move the player backward and even rolls will move the player forward.

I put everyone in the randomizer, and here's what came out:

List Randomizer
There were 42 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

Olivermagnus

A little eerie if you ask me, but I have a PDF printout if anyone wants proof.

So, AJ, what do you want to do??

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4764 comments You all lead interesting lives with lots of activities. I read. I'm happy to say that I had cataract surgery yesterday and through the miracle of Kindle font technology am back to reading today.

My goal on this challenge is to read all hundred books on my list. So I'm okay with however the dice roll.

Glad your cataract surgery went so well!

I find as I steadily age that ebook reader technology is a necessity. Not just font and light adjustments, but books are increasingly harder for me to hold for lengthy periods of time due to arthritis in hands. I don't care for audiobooks if not previously read.

I feel blessed that this technology is here right when I need it.

So .. visited my Ophthalmologist last week and at end she said, "I can take that cataract off any time now." WHAT???? It's in my right eye, where I have little vision anyway, so I certainly haven't noticed a problem. I have a follow-up in 3 months for a special glaucoma field of vision test, and we'll decide then.

I was having so much fun in the caboose that I delayed writing / posting my review for nearly a week (and my next book hadn't come in yet at the library anyway) ... Now I'm on the outside looking in ... but just two spaces away so I can hear the cheers and laughter.

message 283: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Caboose is open to all reading books between #3 and #15! Essentially for now it's whoever is in the lowest 12 spots on the Gameboard. Lina is at the #3 spot, nicely settled on a chaise.

message 284: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments I just finished my number 11, second subdue book. And my third book hasn’t yet arrived. I think I’m still in the caboose. My next book, however, is number 18. But by that time, the caboose may have shifted it its range. I’m going to hang out and maybe look at AJ’s wedding photos. Did that pizza ever arrive? Who else is hanging out other than me and Lina?

message 285: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Caboose update coming soon. Looks like I will be hanging around. There's a really delicious Italian chopped salad on the buffet at the moment. And decadent garlic bread. But

You leave the caboose when you have reviewed the book at the number keeping you in the Caboose. So if you have reviewed your first book and the roll took you to #13, you are still in the Caboose. If however your roll took you to #16, you are in the Baggage Car. Either read fast to get into second class or slow down to get bumped back into Caboose.

message 286: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12058 comments Reviewed the first book and started second at #17, so I'm looking for some softer baggage which I can take a snooze on.

message 287: by Theresa (last edited Jan 14, 2023 06:21PM) (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Still hanging in the Caboose, requiring frequent buffet refills, are:

Lina, A.J., Doughgirl, Nicole, Theresa, BnB, Joi, Joanne, Heather, DianeMP, Sallys, Hannah, MargieD, anaressa, Lize, Cheryl, Sue, Pam, NicoleD, Amy, BC, LindaC, Hayjay, Rachel, Charlotte, LibCin

Hope you remembered your to-go cup and doggie bag when you left the Caboose! I do hope for all our sakes there are some pieces of soft-sided luggage or a carpetbag or two to be found to recline against in baggage.

message 289: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments Must have hit the Baggage Car! My roll took me to 18! But never fear, the book is nowhere near. Right now I am starting the Little Shop of Found Things by Paula Brackston. Then there is my second trim book, songs of Ursa Major, which at some point HayJay and I are going to read together, and also island of missing trees, which I am hosting my in real life club for on January 29. So I think I have three more before my third subdue book can even get started. So, if you don’t mind, even though my roll of the dice with ambitious, I’m gonna stay and hang out with you guys because I love the refills! It’s lonely in the baggage car. Plus, there is a cabana caboose boy that I have my eye on.

Just delay posting the review of that 2nd book.... once you post it you are in Baggage Car with BnB and a few others even if you still have to get your 3rd book! No lingering in Caboose. It is crowded.

I don't think I'm officially on the gameboard, so I'm not sure where I fall with regard to other people. My 2nd roll took me to #15, and I have at least 3 more books to read before I get to it! I suspect I'll party with everyone in the caboose for a while yet!

message 292: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12914 comments That's me too! Three more books until my next Subdue read!

message 293: by Theresa (last edited Jan 14, 2023 11:25PM) (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Just so no one thinks they are sitting on the rails ...

Baggage Car currently has:

BnB, Ellen, Jen K, Diana H, Robin, Amy, Joanne, Cora and Tien. (Hey Caboose! Who took JoAnne's place on the vacated Reading Nook chaise? No, JoAnne, you did not take it with you. It is bolted and soldered to the floor.)

Second Class Lounge - nothing but stale crackers and tap water in a dirty glass

Nancy, Chili, Tien, Daniel, KateNZ, and Olivermagnus

First Class Cafe - empty - guy in charge of the snack bar is eating them all out of boredom.

Private Car - provided by RR
JoyD- hope shes enjoying the room to spread out, plush seats and sofas, antimacassars, private bar, and dedicated server who keeps the silver polished, crystal sparkling, and drinks cold.

Royalty Coach - empty
Locomotive

message 295: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 3143 comments I've been enjoying the baggage car. It is cozy with the bags.

My last roll has me hurtling up to second class but I'm not sure I will stay there long. I also have a few library books to get to before my next subdue book.

LibraryCin | 11677 comments Amy wrote: "That's me too! Three more books until my next Subdue read!"

You might be one book ahead of me, though. 2nd roll also meaning my 2nd book. :-)

Thank you, Lynda! I am flattered. A touch of humor or whimsey or both always adds more fun.

message 298: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Finished my first book - posting review - and settling by the fireplace in the Caboose with my second though it will have to alternate with 2 other books I needto get out of the way. Oh, cowboy! Pour me a single malt!

message 299: by Tien (last edited Jan 15, 2023 01:00AM) (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 1641 comments How did I get to be in 2 places at the same time (baggage car & second class lounge)? Magic! lol

Edit: ah, I see that I'm on the Master Gameboard twice... #23 & 28. I was never on #23 though? Unless I've missed the note that told me that I'm to move there?
