From the rules:
The first person to the end of their game board wins a prize (or if no one reaches the end, the person who is furthest along on December 20th at noon EST will be declared the winner).
Subsequent finishers receive varying levels of participation points depending on when/if they finish.
There will also be a consolation prize for the person who reads the most books on their board. There will also be a special consolation prize for the person who progresses the least on their board, but has read at least 3 titles for the challenge.

I will also say given my experience in another roll based game, the pace slows and speeds up randomly for everyone. You hit a section where the die give you nothing higher than a 3 time after time, and everyone around you seems to be only a couple rolls from finishing. Or you hit every slow read or chunkster on your board.

Currently partying in the Caboose are everyone still on rolls between 1 and 12 - even if it is their second roll keeping them there. I have experienced the randomizer only letting you move 2, 3, or 4 spots roll after roll...you really NEED to hang in the Caboose then!
As of last evening, we have quite a crowd: Nicole, Lina, Hannah,
Doughgirl, Amy, BC, Cheryl, Chili, Theresa, BnB, Joi, Joanne, RachelN, Heather, DianeMP, Ellen, Sue, LibraryCin, MargieD, anaressa, Lize.
I hope JoAnne ordered enough pizza.

And you have to have posted your review of the book reading while in Caboose, not just get a roll taking you 'far' forward. More or less.

We will just have to hope for luck, or use loaded dice that hold us back.

Thanks Anita.

Take a look around!

Even has Books and Bookshelf!

The Subdue Reading Nook is finished:

After a long session interviewing that left me with an accelerated heart-rate (is it hot in here?), plus a mountain of drool rags, I introduce you to The Subdue Cabanna Boys!
First, meet Cowboy Tex

Next up is Firefighter Jose!

Last but by no means least, we have James, a debonair man about town who looks mighty fine in a tux.

I expect all to keep hands to themselves – gamers and boys! You are supposed to be reading! They have work to do - finding more comfy chairs, providing pillows and blankets, handing over travel cups when someone moves on before finishing their drink. And, of course, keeping the buffet, fridge, and bar well stocked!
My job is done. I've retired to the Victorian Chaise with my book and no one is to disturb me except James with regular refills.

Thanks, Anita! Technically, I wasn't (quite) at 50% when I posted... I was just commenting that I would be before I went to bed last night (and I was... just not online to request anything). Plus I haven't been online at all today until now, but I did finish my book today!
Not that a roll today or tomorrow would matter. I have a few books I need to get through before coming back to my next Subdue book, anyway.
ETA: I will try to be careful about how I word any additional comments next time!

I need another roll and a new bottle of Tums.

Joy, after you finish your current book, you will need to move back three spaces please to your #38 book.

Friends on the Subdue Train, my book to just arrive from the library and it’s nice and small and thin. Plus I hit 40% of Apeirogon! So there is light at the end of my tunnel! I’m inching closer to the caboose door into the luggage compartment. By the end of January, I will have asked for my third roll, and if I am counting right, I will have knocked off six candles! The more I get these birthday candles, moving, the more time I will have for Subdue, Trim, and Tag. It just happened to be a very full month, and I know I’m saying this on the 10th.

LOL. I know exactly how you feel! My last roll made me groan with dismay (I’m not in the right mood), so I’ll hang back and read something else. However I was really happy that it forced me to read the first book now, because I know I might never have read it otherwise, and it was well worth my time.

UGH
