The story begins with a girl who had something fall on her head. She might have been exploring a construction zone or a condemned area. She had a rare skull-size, so they needed a male from before the Ragnorak for a donor transplant.
She began growing her hair out and rebelling because of the visual area transplant making her "see things differently." She was invited up to a surface expedition to the freezing wastes and she could identify horses in a video.
The thing I remember most is that someone gave her a broach/pin and she used it as a weapon, but someone mistook it for her fingernails. I think it was at a party where she led other youths in a chant about "won't let us."
